Series Up For Grabs, But Giants Dominating Royals In Google Searches By State
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The World Series is billed as a team of destiny looking to end an extensive title drought versus a squad of veteran contributors who always find a way to win. You would think that storyline would lead to a lot of people doing online research on the upstart Royals rather than the two time-champion Giants.
Google Trends: Giants vs. Royals
In anticipation of the World Series, featuring the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants, Google Trends has created a map that compares how search volume differed for the competing teams. Blue states indicate a higher search volume for the Royals, and Orange states indicate a higher search volume for the Giants.
As some Bay Area radio outlets announced their removal of pop star Lorde's 2012 hit "Royals" from playlists, one station -- KMVQ-FM, aka 99.7Now -- gamely offered its take on Meghan Trainor's recent hit "All About That Bass" as an anthem:
