The much-anticipated Siletz Bay Music Festival (SBMF) kicks off next week in its fourth annual summer event bringing classical, jazz, cabaret and even theater to the local community. A total of 13 performances will take place in four different venues from June 24 – July 5. Three of these performances are FREE to the public in an effort to make music accessible to all and as an act of appreciation for valuable community support. Internationally-known musicians will return once again to the Oregon Coast—bringing favorites like Dick Hyman, Ken Peplowski, Mei-Ting Sun, Rebecca Kilgore, Gerald Robbins, Katherine Schultz, Nicole Greenidge Joseph and others led by Maestro Yaki Bergman.

The Festival will open with its first performance at the Lincoln City Cultural Center (LCCC) on Wednesday, June 24 at 7:30pm. Students from Taft High School’s Jazz Band will open the first free community concert at the LCCC on Friday, June 26 at 7pm. Two performances will be hosted by Eden Hall—the ever popular Musical Tapas on Sunday, June 28 at 4pm and the Festival’s newest addition—The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)—a comedy event that features all of Shakespeare’s work in just under two hours. The Congregational Church of Lincoln City will host a second free community concert, featuring works by Mozart, Chopin and Schumann.

Salishan Spa and Golf Resort will host the remaining performances and will welcome Adam Jackson—an 11-year old piano prodigy—who will play Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on Friday, July 3. In celebration of July 4th, renowned pianist Dick Hyman will return to the Oregon Coast with the western premiere of his piano concerto entitled Independence Day. The third free community concert—The Noisy Intermission and Carnival of the Animals—is geared towards children and their families and will feature colorful illustrations of orchestra instruments “coming to life” by local artist Krista Eddy.

Finally, a special Sinatra showcase will entertain guests at the Festival’s benefit event on Sunday, July 5 at 4pm. “We anticipate between 1,500 – 2,000 people joining us for this year’s Festival. After months of careful planning by a hardworking board and crew of volunteers, we are excited for the community and visitors to see this remarkable talent come to life on stage!” said Katelyn Hordichok, Interim Executive Director of SBMF.
