If you love local fruit, you’ll likely be familiar with the logo above. That’s because the majority of Canadian peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries, plums, grapes or pears sold in Ontario are grown in the picturesque Niagara region and brought to stores via Vineland Growers.
This successful co-operative was founded in 1913 by four Niagara farmers, and today has grown to become a market leader in the produce industry, supplying major grocery chains such as Loblaws, Sobeys, Metro, Costco, Walmart, and Food Basics, No Frills, Fortinos, Zehrs, The Real Canadian Superstore, Valu-mart, Foodland, Your Independent Grocer – and more!
Located in the heart of Ontario’s Niagara Region, Vineland supports the family owned farms who grow their fruit with modern cold storage, effective transportation solutions, custom packing and sales support. All of their fruit is only shipped within Canada. It’s grown by local farmers to be enjoyed fresh by Canadians.
Their board of directors who are elected by their peers, and their team of full time staff work tirelessly to bring us the delicious local fruit Canadians eagerly anticipate each season; tender fruit in the summer months, followed by grapes and pears in the fall and now also their Cold Snap™ pears in the winter!
Did you know? The Niagara Fruit Belt is about 65 kilometres, mainly below the Niagara Escarpment along the south shore of Lake Ontario, extending from Hamilton to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is one of the richest fruit-producing areas in Canada.
