This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key hires below.
Twitter
Jack Dorsey has finally been named as the chief executive of Twitter replacing Dick Costolo who vacated the role in July.
Twitter made the move official following weeks of speculation that Dorsey, Twitter's interim CEO and Square chief executive, was lined up for the role on a permanent basis.
Dorsey has vowed that he is capable of running Twitter and payments company Square at once despite Square’s impending IPO.
Condé Nast
The Guardian’s director of digital strategy Wolfgang Blau is joining Condé Nast International as chief digital officer where he will take responsibility for the digital growth of media brands including Vogue, Vanity Fair and Wired.
Blau will take up the position on 1 December and will oversee all digital activities for the 100 plus websites and apps of Condé Nast International’s brands.
He has spent more than two years at the Guardian where he served on the company’s executive committee while reporting directly to the Guardian’s global editor in chief as well as chief executive of Guardian News & Media.

DailyMail.com has announced that its North American chief executive officer Jon Steinberg is set to leave at the end of this year.
The move comes as the company aims to focus more heavily on growing organically instead of through acquisitons and partnerships.
Steinberg joined the Daily Mail in June 2014. During his time there, he helped it acquire Elite Daily and launch Truffle Pig, its joint venture with WPP and Snapchat.
Net-a-Porter
The Net-a-Porter Group’s founder and president Natalie Massenet has been replaced by former marketing chief Alison Loehnis following her unexpected departure last month.
Massenet departed mid-way through the £1bn merger with Italian fashion group Yoox. The combined entity will create the world’s largest online luxury retailer but reports emerged at the time that Massenet was not fully on board with the plans, despite being slated to stay on as executive chairman.
Bloomberg
Bloomberg Media has announced two key appointments in its latest executive reshuffle with Gary Groenheim taking up the position of head of partnerships for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the appointment of Hannah Musisi from CNN International.
Groenheim moves over from his Hong Kong post as commercial director of Bloomberg Television for Asia Pacific and will focus on launching and managing new media partnerships, as well as building relationships with existing partners.
Starbucks
Starbucks has named Adobe's senior vice-president and chief information officer Gerri Martin-Flickinger its first ever chief technology officer as it looks to tighten its grip around mobile marketing.
Kevin Johnson, Starbucks president and chief operating officer said Martin-Flickinger will take the coffee company's mobile capabilities "to the next level".
Hootsuite
Hootsuite has created its first ever chief marketing officer role and appointed Penny Wilson to take it up.
Wilson, who previously worked at Juniper Networks in the same role, will lead Hootsuite’s global marketing organisation and help drive the growth of its customer base, which currently stands at more than 10 million users.
Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean has appointed Tamara Strauss as marketing director.
Joining from InterContinental Hotels Group she will head up the marketing, communications and distribution teams, drawing on her experience in online, trade marketing and communications.
The Ticket Factory
One of AXS’ senior ticketing managers has joined The Ticket Factory.
Lisa Brown brings with her experience of running the O2 and will start in the role of client services director.
Before joining AXS, Brown spent eight years working for Ticketmaster UK in a variety of roles including ticketing manager for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
500px
Global photo community 500px has named Ellen Desmarais as vice-president and head of marketing.
Desmarais comes to 500px form Getty Images where she was vice-president and general manager of iStock.
She will be based in San Francisco.
Mindshare
Mindshare has hired Amy Kean, head of futures at Havas Media, as its regional director, strategy of Asia Pacific.
The Drum understands that Kean began her new role this week and will initially be based in London before moving to Singapore in November to take on the senior strategy role within the WPP owned global media network.
Ogilvy
Ogilvy Public Relations UK has promoted Marshall Manson to chief executive from his position of managing director EMEA of Social@Ogilvy.
The move follows the recent promotion of Michael Frohlich to chief executive of the group’s EMEA region.
Droga5
Droga5 London has appointed David Kolbusz as chief creative officer with him set to adopt the role early in November.
Kolbusz joins Droga5 from Wieden + Kennedy, New York, where he currently serves as executive creative director. However he has intimate knowledge of the UK market following a four year spell at BBH from 2010.
Geometry Global
Geometry Global UK has hired Martin Smith as chief strategy officer and managing partner.
Joining from the same role at Havas’ Cake + Arnold KLP, Smith has over 20 years’ experience as a strategist and agency leader. He is responsible for award-winning campaigns across all communications disciplines and has held executive planning positions at Saatchi & Saatchi, Mother and BBH.
Ogilvy & Mather
Ogilvy & Mather Group UK has appointed Fiona Gordon to the newly created role of group transformation director.
Gordon will relocate from Singapore, where she is currently group chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, to London, and begin her new role in January 2016.
She will be responsible for working with all Ogilvy agencies in the UK to help drive seamless collaboration and integration across the Group. She will also lead on key client business.
Fetch
Global mobile marketing agency Fetch has hired Byron Plant as chief technology officer.
Plant will oversee all technical development at Fetch, to help the company grow through the use of technology and data.
He arrives from Publicis Groupe, where he led a technical team, focussing on effective product delivery.
Uniform
Ken Dixon, founder of Scottish ad agency, Newhaven, is to join Uniform London to spearhead the consultancy’s integrated brand strategy and tech innovation capability.
Dixon, who has led strategy-development for such major brands as Tennent’s, HBoS, Kellogg’s and Eurostar, and has international agency experience gained at Fitch, Ogilvy and Leo Burnett, brings over 20 years’ experience to the team and joins as the consultancy relocates its London operation to new offices in Clerkenwell.
