Our dogs really are part of the family, but as much as I love them, I hate the mess they’ve brought with them. Any long time reader of mine knows that I have been complaining for almost two years now about my carpeting. Now having four kids doesn’t help my carpet situation any, but my dogs have really pushed the pet stains to a whole new level! They have already created what I like to call their own private beach in my backyard and track half of it in with them every time they go out. And let’s not forget they’ve been a part of the family since before they were house broken, and like any dog, they still have the occasional overnight accident.
I've taken every measure to keep up with the stains as soon as they happen, but my carpet just doesn't measure up. After multiple steam cleanings (even by the professionals) the stains either remain or magically reappear! It also doesn't help that the scent is trapped in the carpet and padding (yuck) leading them back to the same spots to relieve themselves.
Last year we finally began replacing some of our flooring, but stopped after only two rooms. Why? Simply because I couldn't decide what the better option was. Wood would make cleaning those pet messes easier, and it would trap less pet hair making it a lot to manage. But with a 5th child on the way and four who already enjoy lounging on the floor while playing games, dolls, etc. new carpeting seems like a more comfortable, family friendly
option.
