Catholic priest Father Charles Chilinda may rattle some opposition UPND nerves with his suggestion that they should abandon their challenge to the election of President Edgar Lungu as authority comes from God.

Fr Chilinda who is St Ignatius Parish Priest said it was not going to benefit the UPND not to accept the outcome of the elections.

He said that it was now time to move on after the elections had passed.

The UPND has refused to accept the outcome of the August 11 elections and have been crisscrossing between courts with a new twist to the tale being them wanting to take the matter to the International Criminal Court.

“Even in our Christian faith we are called to recognize authority. What is it going to benefit them if they are not going to accept the outcome of the elections? That is anarchy, we do not want bloodshed all we want is peace,” Fr Chilinda said.

He said the country needed to move on in the post election period.

The call may not sit well with UPND supporters that have previously taken issue with the clergyman for his role in the Christians for Lungu movement where he is a board member.
