In this section of the guide to the Another WordPress Classifieds (AWPCP) plugin, we will take a look at the Ad/Listings Settings area where you can set up Notifications, Ad Moderation, Layout Presentation and much more.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to Classifieds -> Settings -> Ad/Listings.



Step 3) Complete the fields as outlined below:

User Notifications

A.

Ad Posted

If checked, an email will be sent when an Ad is posted.

B.

Ad Posted

If checked, the Ad owner will be notified when the Ad is enabled.

C.

Ad Renew

If checked, an email will be sent to remind the user to Renew the Ad when the Ad is about to expire.

D.

Ad Renew email threshold

Enter the number of days that an email is sent to the user indicating that the Ad expires.

E.

Ad Expired

If checked, an email will be sent to the user when the Ad expires.

Admin Notifications

F.

Ad Posted

If checked, an email will be sent when an Ad is posted (recommended).

G.

Ad Expired

If checked, an email will be sent when an Ad expires.

For this example, no changes were made.



Moderation

H.

Only Admin can post Ads

If checked, only Administrators will be allowed to post Ads.

For this example, this field was not checked.

I.

Disable Ad until Admin approves

If checked, new Ads will be in a disabled status (not visible to visitors), until the Administrator approves them (recommended).

For this example, this field was checked.

J.

Enable paid Ads that are pending payment.

If checked, Ads pending payment are enabled (visible to visitors).

For this example, this field was not checked.

K.

Have non-registered users verify the email address used to post new Ads

If checked, a message with an email verification link will be sent to the email address used in the contact information.

New Ads will remain disabled until the user clicks the verification link (recommended).

For this example, this field was checked.

L.

Number of days before the verification email is sent again

Enter the number of days before an email is sent the specified user about the Ad expiration.

For this example, this default value of 5 was not changed.

M.

Number of days before Ads that remain in a unverified status will be deleted

Enter the number of days that an unverified Ad will remain in an unverified status before being deleted.

For this example, this default value of 30 was not changed.



If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

N.

Awaiting approval message

In this area you can customize the message a user will see right after they post an Ad, if that Ad is awaiting approval from the Administrator.

The message may also be included in email notifications sent when a new Ad is posted.

For this example, no change was made.

O.

Allowed domains in Ad poster email

If you want to restrict the Ad posting to only email addresses with a domain in the list below will be allowed.

*.foo.com will match a.foo.com, b.foo.com, etc. but foo.com will match foo.com only. Please type a domain per line.

For this example, no change was made.

P.

Prevent Ads from being posted to top level categories?

If checked, the user will be prevented from posting their Ad to a Top Level Category.

For this example, this field was checked.

Q.

Use multiple dropdowns to choose categories

If checked, a dropdown with top level categories will be shown. When the user chooses a category, a new dropdown will apper showing the sub-categories of the selected category, if any. Useful if your website supports a high number of categories.

For this example, this field was checked.

R.

Free Ads expiration threshold

Enter the number of days before a free Ad expires. (0 indicates no expiration).

For this example, 7 was entered.

Disable expired ads instead of deleting them?

If checked, expired ads will be disabled instead of deleted.

For this example, this field was checked.

If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

Region Settings

Allow Regions modification

If checked, users will be allowed to change the region information associated with their Ads.

For this example, this field was checked.

U.

Allow users to search Ads in multiple regions

If checked, users will be able to search Ads in multiple regions.

For this example, this field was checked.

If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

Layout and Presentation

V.

Show Ad preview before payment.

If checked, a preview of the Ad being posted will be shown after the images have been uploaded and before the user is asked to pay. The user is allowed to go back and edit the Ad details and uploaded images or proceed with the posting process.

For this example, this field was checked.

W.

Allow HTML in Ad text

Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want to allow HTML in ad text. (Not recommended)

For this example, this field was not checked.

X.

Display this text above ad detail text input box on ad post page

Enter any text you want to display above the text input box on post pages.

For this example, no change was made.

Y.

Maximum Ad title length

Enter the number of characters allowed in Ad title.

Please note this is the default value and can be overwritten in Fees and Subscription Plans.

For this example, the default value of 100 was not changed.

Z.

Maximum Ad details length

Enter the number of characters allowed in Ad details.

Please note this is the default value and can be overwritten in Fees and Subscription Plans.

For this example, no change was made.

AA.

Number of words in Ad excerpt

Enter the number of characters allowed in the Ad excerpt.

For this example, 30 was entered.

BB.

Hide contact name to anonymous users?

If checked, the listing contact name for non logged in users is hidden.

For this example, this field was checked.

If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

CC.

DD.

Ad Listings page layout

Single Ad page layout

In both of these fields, the php code is displayed and can be modified to suit your needs.

Unless you have php coding experience, we recommend that you do not modify these fields.

For this example, no changes were made.

EE.

Order Ad Listings by

From the dropdown list, select an Order by option for the Ads.

For this example, Date (newest first) was left as the default value.

FF.

Order Ad Listings in Search results by

From the dropdown list, select an Order by option for the Search Results.

For this example, Date (newest first) was left as the default value.

GG.

Default number of Ads per page

Enter the number of Ads to display per page.

For this example, 10 was left as the default value.

For this example, no changes were made.

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

HH.

Limits search to available locations.

If checked, the search form can attempt to build drop down country, state, city and county lists if data is available in the system.

With the regions module installed the value for this option is overridden.

For this example, this field was not checked.

II.

Show Ad count in categories

If checked, this option will show how many Ads a category contains.

For this example, this field was checked.

JJ.

Hide empty categories?

If checked, categories with 0 listings in it will not be displayed.

For this example, this field was not checked.

KK.

Show Ad views

If checked, Show Ad views is turned on.

For this example, this field was checked.

LL.

Make URLs in ad text clickable

If checked, URLs in the Ad body will be clickable.

For this example, this field was not checked.

MM.

Add no follow to links in Ads

This field is checked by default.

For this example, no change was made.

For this example, no changes were made.

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.

Menu Items

For this example, the default values for the Menu Items were not changed.

Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.
