Jackie Chan as Chon Wang and Owen Wilson as Roy O’Bannon in Shanghai Noon (2000).

It looks like more than a decade after their major excursion in England, there is a chance we could see the return of the Wild West’s “odd couple” of Chon Wang and Roy O’Bannon.

Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are in talks to return to their signature roles in Shanghai Dawn, the third installment of the series that began with 2000’s hit Shanghai Noon and followed by 2003’s Shanghai Knights.

The duo behind the scripts of the first two films, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have came up with the story for Shanghai Dawn and a director has been found in the form of Jared Hess, whose best known film is the hilarious independent comedy Napoleon Dynamite. As for the script, it will be written by Theodore Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum.

Chan recently teamed up with Johnny Knoxville in Skiptrace and has the following films set for release: Railroad Tigers, The Foreigner, Kung Fu Yoga and is currently at work on Bleeding Steel. Wilson has Masterminds and Bastards completed and will be not seen but heard in next summer’s Cars 3, where he returns to his signature role of Lightning McQueen.

Should the deal go through, expect to see Chon “The Shanghai Kid” Wang and Roy O’Bannon return for a new adventure.
