WILMINGTON, MA — Eula Lee Hilbinger, passed peacefully on Oct. 6, 2016 at the Genesis Center in Wakefield, Mass. She resided at her home on Glen Road in Wilmington, Mass. with her daughter Carol Hilbinger for the last five years. Eula was born Oct. 15, 1937 in Baltimore, Md., the only child of Martha Frances Lee and Paul Leroy Rosier. Her step father Vernon Schroth was the significant father in her life until his passing in 1993.

She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore in 1954. Eula was employed in the computer division of Hochschild Kohn’s in Baltimore for 10 years, during this time she met her future husband. Eula and Earl Hilbinger were married on Feb. 20, 1966 in Baltimore. The couple soon moved to Portland and started their family. After a short stay in Houston, Texas they returned to Portland. Eula continued to raise two daughters while earning 2 degrees from University of Southern Maine in Accounting and Business Administration. After the death of her husband, she continued to reside in the North Deering area of Portland until 2011, when due to declining health, she moved to Wilmington, Mass. to reside with her oldest daughter.

Eula, while legally blind and hard of hearing, was a prayerful and cheerful Christian. She an active long time member of Saint Ansgar’s Lutheran Church where she had first taught Sunday School and in later years was active in the sewing club. Eula had a strong interest in family, friends, her church and the world around her. She excelled in the art of friendly conversation. She was a true, generous and loyal friend to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by Earl, her husband of 20 years, in 1991; her parents Martha and Vernon Schroth; and many of her closest friends. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Hilbinger of Wilmington, Mass. and Linda Pollock of Saco, along with her son-in-law Stephen Pollock; and her grandsons, Ethan and Seth.

The family would like to invite you to attend visiting hours on Tuesday Oct. 11 from 4-7 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A service will celebrated on Wednesday Oct. 12 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a gathering at Jones, Rich & Hutchins 199 Woodford St., Portland.
