WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Summer Reading Raffle

Exercise your mind this summer by reading outside your comfort zone.  Submit a raffle ticket from a list of categories and you could win a $15 gift card from Panera, Whole Foods, Target and more. Coupons are available at the library or can be printed from the library’s website. Categories include:

Read a book published this year

Read a book recommended by a librarian

Read a book recommended by a friend or family member

Featured Book: The Circle by Dave Eggers @ Bertucci’s in Reading
A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s.  The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month.  The book discussion is hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Reading public libraries. Meeting location rotates between restaurants in Wilmington and Reading.

Boston Business Journal In Your Job Search *RR

A representative from the Boston Business Journal, the leading business publication covering regional business, will offer tips and suggestions on how to incorporate this valuable tool into your job search.

Writing Group *RR
Monday, July 11, 7 pm
If you love to write and seek input and accountability, then join our writing group. Please bring up to five pages of written work to the meeting. Open to all genres and levels. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Most Interesting Trends in Science and Technology *RR

Wednesday, July 13, 7 pm
Dr. Bob Spillman, a PhD chemist with over 30 years of industrial R&D experience, will present a broad  overview on the most interesting and sometimes disturbing developments in science and technology. Topics to be discussed include space exploration, biotechnology and medicine, materials research, alternative energy, particle physics, and climate change.

Author Talk: Jay Atkinson *RR

Thursday, July 14, 7 pm
Bestselling author, Jay Atkinson, will talk about his latest book, Massacre on the Merrimack. The book details the account of Hannah Duston, who in 1697 was captured along with eleven others from the village of Haverhill, in an Abenaki raid. Jay is the author of several other books including Ice Time and Legends of Winter Hill. He has written for the New York Times, Boston Globe, Newsday and Men’s Health and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize three times.

Preschool Storytime:  Vacation
Tuesday, July 5, 10 am

This storytime for preschoolers includes books, rhymes, music and a fun craft.  Parents and caregivers are encouraged to accompany the child and participate in the activities. Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ages 3-6

Bugging Out! With Marvelous Marvin *RR
Wednesday, July 6, 6:30 pm

In rhyme, Marvin teaches about fascinating bug habits, bug archaeology, and the importance of bugs to humans. With circus arts, magic, and music, Marvin opens his giant bug book to reveal illustrations by Paul Olson and photos by Brian Jones. Ages 4+

Baby Times
Thursday, July 7, 9:30 am

This program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers. Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Time for Twos
Thursday, July 7, 10:30 am

This fun program is for two year-olds and features books, songs, rhymes, music and movement.  Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spa Days: Bath Bombs & Lip Balms *RR
Thursday, July 7, 3 pm

Make essential oil scented bath bombs and colorful Kool-Aid flavored lip balms. Grades 4-8

Pinto Bella Hoops *RR
Friday, July 8, 3 pm

Do you love hula hooping? After some brief hula hooping instructions and a performance, everyone will get to try hula hooping! Pinto Bella will then give one-on-one instruction and help teach new solo and group tricks! Grades 1-8
