For the record, I have never pledged allegiance to “ISIS” and will never pledge allegiance to “ISIS” no matter what some undisclosed law enforcement source says “off the record” or what some Facebook administrative undisclosed source says about my Facebook account.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich proposed the creation of a new version of the controversial House Un-American Activities Committee to root out American citizens who plan to commit terrorist attacks in the U.S.
“We originally created the House Un-American Activities Committee to go after Nazis. We passed several laws in 1938 and 1939 to go after Nazis and we made it illegal to help the Nazis. We’re going to presently have to go take the similar steps here,” Gingrich said in a Monday appearance on “Fox and Friends.” […] In 1959, former President Harry Truman infamously called the committee “the most un-American thing in the country today.” TPM
There are currently about 350 million registered firearms in this country. About 10 million of them are AR-15 type weapons. Banning the sale of what they call “assault rifles” will do nothing to stem the tide of gun violence in America and legislators are fully aware of that fact. Of course, if you pay the mob to protect your business from fire damage and notice the next month there are far fewer fires started in your bar, I guess maybe it might look to an uninformed outsider that their fire insurance seems to do the trick while other, more worldly observers roll their eyes and say nothing.

If Democrats want a ban to have any chance of working, they will have to vote for and enforce a nationwide program of confiscation. The ban Democrats are pushing would be meaningless.” WSJ
Yesterday, a congress critter used his special “I was in the military” super-power to suggest these “assault rifles” have no place on American streets. Thanks to the newly formed Veterans Coalition for Common Sense gun-grabbing lobbying group (led by convicted criminal Gen. David Petraeus and “death squad poster boy” Stanley McCrystal), the marriage of vets and gun-grabbing Dems seems to be taking off. He did so by posting a picture of him “making Iraq safe for Democracy” and holding onto an assault rifle while doing it.

I wonder what our Iraq “hero” turned congress-critter thinks about these assault rifles on American streets.
Hard to tell the difference between the streets of Iraq and those of Orlando sometimes, isn’t it?
I guess the congressman doesn’t care about these guys because they dress like he did.
So what is really happening here with this push for this legislation? What is it all about? Guns? Rights? A New House Un-American Activities Committee?

Well, it ain’t about guns…
Truth be told, you can’t legally buy an assault rifle here in the United States.
Contrary to popular belief, the SIG SAUER MPX, is not an assault rifle. Here’s a review of the legal street version of the weapon. Though it was designed for US Special Forces, the version that is legal to sell in the States to citizens is significantly different in that it doesn’t have “selective fire” capability.
An assault rifle is a selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine.[1][2][3][4][5]

According to the 1994 ban, this is what they deem an “assault weapon”:
“In the United States “assault weapons” are usually defined in legislation as semi-automatic firearms that have certain features generally associated with military firearms, including assault rifles. The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired on September 13, 2004, codified a definition of an assault weapon. It defined the rifle type of assault weapon as a semiautomatic firearm with the ability to accept a detachable magazine and two or more of the following:
a folding or telescoping stock
a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon
a bayonet mount
a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor
a grenade launcher
As far as I know, Omar Mateen didn’t take anyone with a grenade launcher and I fail too see the significance of the folding stock or a bayonet mount in the body count from Orlando.
Mateen was not on a no-fly list. He had passed background checks.
In California, they have bans on “assault weapon”-type guns already and yet, the shooters in the San Bernardino attack used AR-15s.
In Chicago, a city with the strictest gun-control laws in the country, folks die by gun-fire at an alarming rate (one of the highest in the country)
And as I stated before, there are already an estimated 10 million of these guns in the US in the hands of ordinary citizens and that is too say nothing of the millions more that are unregistered.
So what is it?
So, truth be told, this push to get the new legislation through congress has nothing to do with preventing mass casualty events by reducing the amount of weapons on the streets that have threads designed to mount a flash suppressor on them. It has everything to do with using these events as a pretext for passing a bills which allows for the creation of several new blacklists which will separate various citizens in their country from their constitutional rights.
In one case, an arbitrary decision by some board someplace can label you a “mental defective” and that will strip you of your second amendment rights. That’s the national “mental hygiene” law.
“In this case, “the Secretary” (I am assuming Secretary of State) will issue a declaration of a citizen’s loss of their constitutional right to bear arms based on a determination by the Secretary or his/her office or commission of that individual’s being considered adjudicated as a mental defective.” Scott Creighton
The other legislation will allow the Department of Justice to do the same thing to you if they decide with their “secret evidence” that you “might” one day “possibly” pose a threat to someone somewhere. As was the case in San Bernadino and Orlando, no real connection to terrorists anywhere is required. This is what they call the “no buy no fly” bill.
“This piece of legislation allows one individual (or his subordinates in the Justice Department) to determine, on his own, the constitutional rights or lack thereof of a US citizen (born or naturalized) if said Attorney General even “suspects” said individual may have some form of connection to terrorism, or someone associated with terrorism or someone somehow related to terrorism. It states that said Attorney General can therefore act on a “reasonable belief” that said citizen “may” cause harm to others sometime in the near future.” Scott Creighton
Of course, the implications to the first amendment rights should be obvious to anyone paying attention.
And don’t think for a minute that these lists don’t already exit. What is lacking is the legal cover they need to be able to act on them out in the open.
I wonder if the recent push to pump money into the mental health system might have something to do with the “mental hygiene” law and potential for-profit “get your mind right” re-education centers.
Just a thought. Pay no attention to that.

It appears the Dark Lord Brennan seems to think it might take a little more carnage to get folks fully on board with the blacklists legislation in congress.
This new “gun legislation” is not about guns at all. It will do nothing to curb the violence in that regard. Hell, neither of the pieces of legislation will even address the sales of such weapons to most people or address the millions of them, registered and unregistered, in the country already.
“We’re going to say, if you pledge allegiance to ISIS, you are a traitor and you have lost your citizenship,” Gingrich said.TPM
What they will do is target people and separate them from their constitutional rights.
What they will do is make people less likely to speak out openly about things that are deemed seditious for fear of ending up on one or more of those lists.
Right now in Iraq, our friends in the Iraqi military are running around rounding up guys in Fallujah who happen to be on various lists. Lists of people opposed to our puppet regime in the country. Lists of people who support the resistance. Lists of people thus declared “ISIS”
It’s a dangerous and bad thing when our assets overseas start making lists and I tell you, it isn’t any better when they want to do it here.
We’ve been through that before.
And I’m not the only one noticing this developing trend.

As we discussed a few months ago, a reporter from the Dallas Morning News told Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in 2013 that he’d been compared at times to Joe McCarthy. Cruz said that criticism “may be a sign that perhaps we’re doing something right,” which seemed like a curious response given the context.
Asked specifically, “Is McCarthy someone you admire?” Cruz wouldn’t answer.
This year, however, a Cruz national security adviser said McCarthy was “spot on” about communists infiltrating the United States government in the 1950s.” MSNBC
