h4. QuickTime Player

Some courses include QuickTime video clips. To view these clips, you will need to have Apple QuickTime Player installed on your computer. Apple QuickTime Player is a [free download at Apple.com|http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/].

Note: The QuickTime Player installer or software may encourage you to purchase a Pro version of QuickTime. Unless your course instructor has directed you to purchase QuickTime Pro, you do not need to do so. The free, non-Pro version of QuickTime contains all you need for playback of the QuickTime clips you may find in your classes. QuickTime Pro is only needed for more advanced usage, such as editing.

If you have a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X, you already have QuickTime Player installed. You can use Software Update or the App Store to check for updates to QuickTime Player and other software on your Mac.

If you have a Windows computer, and you already have iTunes installed on that computer, that computer automatically also has QuickTime Player installed, so you're all set. You can use Apple Software Update on your Windows computer to check for updates to QuickTime Player, iTunes, and other Apple software.

h4. Windows Media Player

Some courses include Windows Media audio or video clips. To play these clips, you will need to have either Windows Media Player or Window Media Components for QuickTime installed on your computer.
* *Windows computers need Windows Media Player.* Most versions of Windows come with Windows Media Player already installed. However, to make sure your computer is fully up to date, please launch Windows Update or Microsoft Update on your computer, and if a newer version of Windows Media Player is available there, install it.
* *Mac OS X computers need Windows Media Components for QuickTime.* Windows Media Components for QuickTime (also known as Flip4Mac Player) are [a free download|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player/wmcomponents]. Note: The Flip4Mac software installer may encourage you to purchase a more powerful version of Flip4Mac; however, the free, Player version contains all you need for playback of the clips you may find in your classes.
