Students who are interested in attending Ole Miss University, also known as the University of Mississippi, usually have concerns about how to afford the cost of college. Luckily, Ole Miss has a number of scholarships available. Some of these awards are earmarked for new students while other awards are open to continuing students. Additionally, some awards are open exclusively to students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree while others are only open to graduate students. The student’s major, income status, academic background, and other factors may also influence which scholarships the student can apply for.

One of the best ways to start your scholarships search is to complete the FAFSA application. This application will quickly help you determine whether you have qualified for any federal or state funding. Additionally, Ole Miss requires the FAFSA application in order to qualify for many of the need-based awards. In addition to the FAFSA, students can look at the following website. This website will help students understand what internal scholarships are available to Ole Miss students. Below is a small selection of scholarships that are available here:

W.R. Newman Scholarship: This scholarship is open exclusively to first-time freshmen of Ole Miss, who reside in Mississippi. In order to qualify, students must have an outstanding academic record and demonstrate leadership ability. The scholarship provides recipients worth $40,000 over a four-year period. Students who are interested in applying should submit a completed application prior to January 5th. This award Is considered one of the Foundation Scholarships that are offered through Ole Miss. Arabic Language Program Scholarships: This scholarship provides tuition remission of $2,500 for eligible students who are in their first three years of study. In order to be eligible, students must show that they are dedicated to achieving a high level of proficiency in Arabic. The program supports 2.5 credits of study, which takes place abroad, in either Jordan or Morocco. Applicants are required to apply prior to January 5th.

Community College Scholarships:  There are several different scholarships available for students who are coming to Ole Miss from a community college. One award, called the Lyceum Scholar Award, provides full-tuition for the remaining two years of the student’s B.A. program. Only students who are residents of Mississippi are eligible. Additionally, all students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and be able to transfer at least 48 credit hours. Students can apply for this scholarship by completing a Community College Transfer Application. This same application can be used to apply for other Community College scholarships, such as the Mississippi Community College Advantage Scholarship. This award is open to students who have at least a 2.5 grade point average and who have a family income of $30,000 or less. All applicants must be eligible for the Pell Grant. There are 25 of these awards available each year. Students must apply prior to March 1st and are required to submit a FAFSA application.
