The defamation case involving allegations that the son of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had outraged the modesty of a female student six years ago is still being investigated.

In 2011, some pro-Umno blogs posted allegations that Lim’s teenage son had sexually assaulted a schoolmate and claimed that Lim had paid the girl and her family RM200,000 to cover up the case.

Lim said the girl that the blogs claimed was the victim was not even in Penang and have never met him or his son.

Tiada rekod polis hubungi kami, kata pejabat Guan Eng

.

Cops blame CM’s office for delay in questioning Guan Eng

FMT Reporters

March 5, 2017

There are good reasons for the delay in the overall investigation into the case of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s son, say police.|.

PETALING JAYA: Police are blaming the delay in taking a statement from Lim Guan Eng over a case involving his son, on the Penang chief minister’s office.

That was also one of the reasons given by George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash in explaining the overall delay in the whole investigation.

“The investigating officer had contacted the CM’ s office five times to set a date for Lim to have his statement recorded.

“But no one got back to us until March 2,” Mior said in a statement yesterday.

.

Mior said the investigation took time as police had to analyse evidence from various agencies, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as well as take the statements of 38 witnesses.

“The CM’s allegations are therefore inaccurate.”

Mior also said the investigation papers were handed over to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) several times but they were returned because they were incomplete.

“We have since refined them and sent them back to the DPP for further instructions.”

#AWANInews #AWANIpagi Police not taking a long time to investigate Lim Guan Eng‘s son case – ACP Mior http://english.astroawani.com/malaysia-news/police-deny-taking-long-time-investigate-lim-guan-engs-son-defamation-case-134443 …

.

GEORGE TOWN: Police have denied taking a long time to conduct investigations into a defamation case involving allegations that the son of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had outraged the modesty of a female student six years ago.

Timur Laut District Police Chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police had actually completed the investigation papers and had referred it several times to the Penang and Putrajaya Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP)’s office.

“The investigations into the case included recordings of 38 witnesses and the report on the analysis of evidence from the social media obtained from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Syarikat Telekom Malaysia and the Police Forensics Department.

“Several instructions have been given to finalise the investigations into the case,” he said in a statement here Saturday.

He was commenting on reports in several news portal which claimed that police were taking a long time investigating the case involving Lim’s son.

Mior Faridalathrash said police also recorded Lim’s words pertaining to the case at his office in Komtar on March 2 following instructions from the Putrajaya DPP office to complete the investigation.

“So, Lim’s allegation about delays in conducting the investigation is not accurate because these investigations take time for the analysis on the evidence obtained from the social media, equipment and supporting evidence, to help in the investigation,” he said.

Guan Eng questions inaction on defamation of son six years ago

By Opalyn Mok

GEORGE TOWN, March 2 — Police officers visited Lim Guan Eng today to ask the Penang chief minister if he wanted to proceed with the case on the alleged defamation of his son, six years after police reports were lodged.

Two police officers met Lim in the presence of his special legal officer, Raja Syarafina Raja Shuib, at about 9.30am at his office in Komtar today for about 20 minutes.

According to the Penang lawmaker, the police only asked him whether he wanted to proceed with the case and whether he was willing to appear in court.

“This is the third time they are taking my statement again on this and this time, they came to ask me if I want to proceed with the case and if I want to appear in court,” Lim told reporters after the policemen left.

He demanded to know why after six years, the police came to ask him whether he wants to proceed with the case.

“These are evil lies against my son who was under 16 at that time. He was not even 16 yet and because of the false news at that time, he didn’t want to go to school and I was so worried that he would do silly things then. Of course I want to proceed with the case, of course I am willing to go to court,” he said.

Back in 2011, some pro-Umno blogs posted allegations that Lim’s teenage son had sexually assaulted a schoolmate and claimed that Lim had paid the girl and her family RM200,000 to cover up the case.

Lim said the girl that the blogs claimed was the victim was not even in Penang and have never met him or his son.

“They used a picture of a girl taken from the internet. The girl, who is an international chess player, has said she has never been to Penang or met me or my son,” he said.

Lim had lodged a police report against the blogs for publishing those false allegations against his son at that time.

“It has been six years and no actions were taken so I want to ask why the AG is taking such a lackadaisical attitude towards this,” he asked.

Anya Corke never met Lim Guan Eng’s son

Patrick Lee

October 21, 2011

I’ve never met Lim Guan Eng’s son, nor have I been to Malaysia in the past seven years, says Corke who was allegedly molested by Guan Eng’s son.

.

PETALING JAYA: Anya Corke, the girl claimed by pro-Umno bloggers to have been molested by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s son has denied ever meeting with him.

In fact, Corke claims that she has not even been to Malaysia for the past seven years.

“I have not visited Malaysia for seven years. I have never met or even heard of any of the people involved. I have never been physically assaulted in any way,” she said in a press statement.

“The only way in which my ‘modesty was outraged’ has been the publication of my picture in connection with these scurrilous and unfounded rumours.”

“Needless to say, I am totally baffled as to how this event happened.”

Corke’s image first appeared on a number of pro-Umno blogs such as Papagomo earlier this week. The original photo, which showed her playing chess, was cropped in an attempt to implicate Lim’s son.

Her image was most likely taken from the website, www.chessbase.com.

Pro-Umno blogs claimed that Lim’s son molested a female schoolmate at the Heng Yee Chinese secondary school, and that the Chief Minister had paid off the girl’s family RM200,000 in a bid to shut them up.

This allegation and usage of her photo was incredulous, according to Corke.
