Vaulin was apprehended by the authorities in Poland and was charged with two counts of criminal copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to commit copyright infringement.
Der – Yeghiayan, a special agent from Homeland Securities Investigations (HIS), issued a 50 page affidavit revealing his findings about Kickass Torrents. He reported that Kickass would generate around $16 million per year through advertisements.
To expose Kickass Torrents, he went undercover as an IRS agent and purchased an ad for $300 per day. The Kickass representatives provided a Latvian bank account for making the payment but notified the buyer, ‘not to mention Kickass anywhere’. After successful purchase of the ad, the HIS agent inferred again about another ad but the Kickass representative told him that faster ads were all sold and more expensive ads ($1,000 to $3,200 per day) were available.
Apple’s Role in Kickass Torrents Owner’s Apprehension
