Of course, the risks involved in his line of work are of epic proportion, and he admits it.

"Yes, I get asked a lot what it feels like to be that close to a big cat. It’s intimidating and scary. But when I do a procedure comparing small cat to a big cat, they’re almost identical," says Dr Boorstein.

The real risk, he adds, is that if the big cat wakes up in the middle of surgery, it can finish you in a matter of seconds, including those around you.So he never makes any mistakes.

"In this kind of job, a single mistake can cost you your life, so I never make any mistake," says Dr Boorstein.
