Deputy President William Ruto has been sued by one Priscah Chemutai Bett for allegedly neglecting their child.

In an affidavit submitted to court through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Chemutai narrates that the two met in 2005 when she was still a student at Moi University in Eldoret.
She was introduced to the then Eldoret North MP by a friend and later gave in to Ruto's advances since she was gullible, young and naive.

According to Chemutai, she used to meet with Ruto in his Eldoret residence where they spent nights together and eventually gave birth to a baby girl on March 6, 2006 whom she named Chepruto.
In the court papers, the plaintiff says that Ruto promised to support her and the child but ceased when he assumed his current office.

Chemutai divulges that when she threatened to take Ruto to court, the DP sent her Sh35,000 through M-Pesa but that was just it.
She is now seeking monthly support of Sh30,000 in food allowance, Sh80,000 for housing and Sh35,000 for toiletries.
Additionally , Chemutai wants a car from Ruto and security for her and the DP's daughter.

In an interesting twist, Ruto admitted to be the father of the child but said that Abby Chemutai was well catered for.
