I had been ploughing through the Underworlds warbands of the Rivals of the Mirrored City set, and it got me thinking about just how fast these models are to paint. I had kinda pencilled in the Bonesplitterz of Hedkrakka’s Madmob for a new Orktober, but figured I could basically lump them in with the other Underworlds stuff I was already doing… so I did!

If Underworlds warbands are quick to paint, then Bonesplitterz are pure lightning. Even with the details on Hedkrakka himself, this is a seriously quick project to do – perhaps 40 minutes, maybe 50 minutes with drying time for all four models?

My thought here was that Hedkrakka has the Prophet keyword, so he could (in theory) be used to lead an entire force of Orruks, and comes with his own little group of bodyguards to boot. Not saying this is the super tactical choice (!), but it provides a bit of variation and that is always fun when you are doing narrative games.

Of course, within days of them arriving, GW announces that the Bonesplitterz are going to be disappearing from Age of Sigmar… A shame but, again, a lot less pain for us narrative gamers as we get to include just about anything in our forces.

In fact, it seems I am contrary enough that, when GW announced the chop for these Orruks, I promptly ordered another two box sets of Bonesplitterz infantry! Even forty of them will take little enough effort and time to paint up, so I am not seeing a massive loss there (yet).

Anyway, with these done, it is time for me to turn the Slapchop eye onto something 40k…
