While we were camping at Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, during our 2015 Vacation, we drove to Port Alberni on a lovely sunny day . We visited Port Alberni on Vancouver Island  in 2010.

“Majestically located on a deepwater ocean inlet in the south-central heart of Vancouver Island, Port Alberni is a friendly and affordable lumber and fishing town with a bright future as an incredible outdoor adventure location.”- Hello B.C,

We also visited Little Qualicum Falls, where we camped in 2010.

“Impressive waterfalls cascade down a rocky gorge in a beautiful forested setting bordered by steep mountain peaks at this park, one of the most beautiful parks on central Vancouver Island. The falls, lake swimming, shaded riverside trails and picnic facilities make Little Qualicum Falls a very popular family recreation destination. A number of walking trails are available in and around the park, offering picturesque views of the river and providing access to the upper and lower falls. ” – Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park

We took the Queen of Coquitlam a B.C. Ferry from Departure Bay, Nanaimo back to Horseshoe bay, Vancouver on a cloudy and cool day.

“Nanaimo Quay Market is a 5,500 square foot market-style retail facility, located at the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Featuring seven stores, and retail kiosks. Nanaimo Quay Market enhances your experience during your travels through Departure Bay Terminal.” – Nanaimo Quay.

Nanaimo Quay at the ferry terminal, has free wi-fi, restaurants, wash-rooms, gift shops, etc.

Inside avalanche tunnel. This photo was taken through our car’s window.

“If you are travelling between Revelstoke and Golden near the British Columbian/Alberta border, you will drive through 5 protective tunnels that help to redirect avalanche flows and you run the possibility of prolonged travel time because of highway closures.  This area undergoes significant daily monitoring, avalanche forecasting and bombing to help keep avalanches under control and to help keep our travellers and railway workers free from these deadly avalanches.” – The University of British Columbia Geography 376, GIS Group Project.

We camped one night at Martha Creek Provincial Park near Revelstoke.

“Great fishing, a wharf, paved boat launch and campsites on the reservoir are four lures that make this park popular with local anglers. The only provincial park on the Revelstoke reservoir, it features one of the few sandy beaches in the area and provides playground opportunities including an adventure playground, indoor cook shelter and a large picnic field complete with volleyball net and horseshoe pitch.”  – Martha Creek Provincial Park

“With its close proximity to Revelstoke, the park itself adds to the diversity of tourist attractions. Nearby Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks in the rugged Selkirk Mountains, offer a wide range of activities. Especially popular is the paved Summit Road into the wildflower meadows and alpine of Mt Revelstoke.” – Martha Creek Provincial Park

Going home.

We came upon two bad accidents on our way home, the first accident occurred during very heavy rain, when about 10 cars on both sides of the freeway rolled over into the ditches due to Hydroplaning.
We don’t know what caused the second  accident, but a large truck crashed through the dividing cement barrier, closing the opposite lane for a long time.
