Middle School Lip-Sync in Review

Middle schoolers had a successful Lip Sync last Friday. They ate plenty of Fried Chicken and Pizza, ate all of our vegetables (Yeah middle schoolers!), played dodgeball, basketball, and performed in a wonderful Lip Sync performance. They returned home tired, but a good time was had by all. Thank you House Council and teachers who made this a memorable experience.

Spring Trip Informational Letters

Middle school Spring Trip 2017 informational letters have been sent out. Please review this correspondence and ask any questions you may have. Further detailed information will be sent out by each grade level group leader closer to the time of the trips.

Passport Renewal

Please check your child’s passports and if it is expiring in the spring, please consider renewing it early. We typically have a few students who have a problem with their passports and/or visas at the time of Spring Trip and this is stressful for the students. If they do not have the proper documentation they may not join the trip. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Classes for Next Year

It is time to begin thinking about next year. Your students have been emailed the Course Catalog for next year. Take time over the weekend to look through the catalog with them.  You should have received a course catalog and questions for you to discuss as a family when determining the best courses for your child. Please attend the High School 2017-2018 Principal’s Course Discussion for parents Monday, March 13th, at 2:00pm in the cafeteria White Room, before the So Gang University visit.

Counselor’s Corner

With the changes the College Board has recently made to the SAT schedule, TIS will now be a testing center on May 6 for the SAT with or without writing.  We will not be offering the subject tests in May, but they will be offered in June.  The deadline to sign up for the May 6 test is April 8.  Please keep in mind that the May test is right in the middle of AP testing.

College Visitis:

So Gang University will be at  TIS on March 13th at 3:30pm in the Choir Room.

Yonsei University will be visiting March 27th at 5:00 pm in the auditorium.

We are currently in discussions with Korea University to arrange a visit to TIS. We will let you know when we have a definite plan.

1 March 2017

Dear Parents

This year the PTO have set themselves a challenging fundraising goal. The money that we raise will go towards funding a rock climbing wall in our gymnasium. This will be a wonderful asset to the school and will benefit both the students and the wider school community.

We have already started our fundraising through various activities. However, we have decided to hold a special ‘Rock Climbing Day’ at TIS on Wednesday 8 March to reach our goal. We are planning a few activities for you, as parents, to get involved with:

‘Get a Grip’ 2017 – a letter will be sent home via the students inviting you to sponsor a hand grip that will be placed on the rock climbing wall. Each hand grip will be 500 RMB and for each hand grip sponsored there will be an opportunity to put a message on a plaque near to the actual rock climbing wall.

Parent Lunch – after the Principals’ coffee on 8 March, we shall be providing a lunch for parents. Tickets will be 50 RMB and can be bought from Admissions. There will be an opportunity to meet some LDi staff members who run our outdoor activities centre and they will introduce us to a few basic skills which are needed when rock climbing!

In addition, we are going to be holding a ‘snacks and bakes’ sale across the school on Wednesday 29 March. This will be an opportunity for your children to bring in some food items to sell and do their part to raise some money. More information on this day will follow.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We appreciate your help in making this fundraiser a success.

Yours sincerely

Rachel Causey
