What does the Whitby Beer Festival include?

The Whitby Beer Festival offers a diverse range of delicious, hand-crafted real ales, including pale ales, bitters, blonds, golden brews, dark milds, and porters. The real ales are brewed in small batches. Using locally sourced ingredients and served from traditional draught casks, giving them an authentic, fresh taste.

The selection of real ciders is equally impressive. It ranges from traditional scrumpy and dry to sweet and fruity flavours like mango and strawberry. All ciders are made from real apples and fruit by dedicated small producers who use natural methods to create deliciously mellow, aromatic, or sweet ciders.

They welcome tourists, daytrippers, evening goers, and real ale enthusiasts. Families are also welcome, and they offer soft drinks for children. They kindly request that an adult supervise the children. The festival has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere every year, especially when the sun is out. Plus, they offer outside seating.

The Whitby Mission Café, located next to the festival hall, serves homemade food all day that perfectly complements your real ale or cider. Bar snacks are also available throughout the festival at the bar.

Raising money for charities

Last year’s festival was a huge success, raising an impressive £5,000.00 for Whitby Lions. This money was donated to several local Whitby charities the club supports throughout the year. Whitby Lions is part of the largest voluntary charity network in the world, Lions International, with over 1.7 million members.

All the funds raised from the festival and other events throughout the year are kept and spent locally to support small independent charities they work with. They also assist with personal good causes, especially those related to disability, learning, or health needs.

The Whitby Beer Festival brings together the local community and beer enthusiasts from far and wide. The event is well-organised, and the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the volunteers and staff makes it a memorable experience. You can learn more about the event here.
