10am-9pm: more than 1,200 free concerts take over streets, sidewalks and parks across the boroughs for the the tenth annual make music new york festival. special events include: glass on water (philip glass performs his concerto on a piano on the pier), inside the bird chorus (a dialogue between musicians and birds), mass appeal (hundreds of musicians perform music written for a specific instrument), shimmer (a work for cymbals by brian chase of the yeah yeah yeahs), and much more. >>color>
