He would realise that there are only 2 forms of ip address an ipv4 and an ipv6. ipv4 is the standard form of ip address conforming to 6 numbers ranging from 0 to 9( example 11.11.11) and due to the amount of network enabled devices, the computer industry realised that we were going to run out of ip address. so they invented ipv6 is slightly different as it is 128bit so will have numbers from 0 to 9 also letters from a to f. Ipv6 hasn’t been rolled out for websites, so you wouldn’t see an ipv6 address, but if you did its nothing special. this bit had me in stitches for a while. DNS is quite extensive to explain but ill make it easy. every website is connected to a dns server as that is what tells the user where the website is located and any particular server. so for example dns server — websitename.com — ip address if you have the time read thishttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_Name_System This will also explain that you cannot use a dns server to look at other sites people can’t access. The IP has to be redirected in order to be assigned to multiple people. I think it is beyond the scope of this forum to explain how DNS Zones MX CNAMES etc work or the difference between ipv4 or ipv6. Perhaps it would be simpler to look at the hosts file on your computer. If you add a name and an IP to your host file when ever you type that name in it will redirect you to the IP. A DNS is like a remote version of your local host file. The rest of the video (sites similar to based on sites redirected from that IP or to that IP) is not the area I was focusing on.
