Available on both Saturday and Sunday, Catalunya’s Sunday Brunch with Passion has a strong Spanish flavour (of course) and the beautiful restaurant offers a great alternative to the hotel-style brunch. The Sunday brunch is pricey at $838 per head, but your plate will be FULL. The menu isn’t as long on Saturdays (hence the $588 price) but by no means is it paltry. In fact you won’t know where to start – there’s a dedicated egg station, sushi and sashimi counter, fresh seafood, endless salads, not to mention assorted entrées. On Sundays they also throw in an Indian curry counter, a carved roast and live cooking station, a bountiful selection of cold appetisers and dessert and pastry to make your eyes bulge, with no less than 30 sweet confections to tempt you. The kids will be on cloud nine too with their own children’s corner offering treats like mini burgers, hot dogs, fish fingers with fries, potato salad and candies galore.  Everyone leaves happy.

The W is renowned for the quality of its food and the brunches they offer are no exception.  There is everything from leg of lamb to oysters, from sushi and sashimi to a vast selection of meats and cheeses.  The desserts are incredible and although it’s one of the more expensive options, the view, setting and quality of the food make the price tag worthwhile.  Very family friendly with trendy Bloom high chairs provided.

The Skydeck at Ce La Vi

The Lan Kwai Fong-located CÉ LA VI boasts having ‘the most coveted spot in town’ – perched at the top of the newly rebuilt California Tower. We’ve listed a few places here with equally prized views so we’ll let you be the judge, but you certainly won’t be disappointed with the scenery or the food. Executive chef Philip Pak presents classic brunch dishes with a modern Asian flair, and pastry chef Jason Licker complements each meal with a special dessert trio. Hot and cold starters with notes of Japanese flavours (prawns with wasabi and clams with miso and garlic) can be paired with mains like organic chicken with Thai-peanut satay or short rib steak with Sichuan jus. Free flow Champagne, wine and cocktails (including a Bloody Mary mixing station) are nearby to help soothe your spicy (but happy) mouth. Bonus for sleepyheads: brunch runs until 6.00 pm on Sundays.

Fans of seafood will head straight to the buffet counter and return again and again for the freshly prepared mix of oysters, sashimi and tuna tartare with avocado, to name a few. There’s plenty of lovely salads and a Moroccan chicken main course option for those non-fish lovers, plus a dessert platter to share. The stunning harbour views from the tall windows, with a live band playing in the background, make for a very inviting Sunday afternoon.

The famous Mandarin Oriental Hotel has its fair share of dining options, and Clipper Lounge is perhaps best known for its afternoon tea. But their Champagne brunch with free flow R de Ruinart Champagne is a great option for families because their huge selection of Asian and western food will please even the fussiest little eaters. Sweet tooths will tear up when they see the dessert section of the menu takes up two columns.

Here’s something we don’t do very often for brunch – sample Balinese cuisine against a gorgeous backdrop. Located in the The Pulse, Repulse Bay, the jaw-dropping interior is worth the visit alone: eco-inspired furniture and décor made with sustainable materials surrounds you as you nestle into private bamboo cocoons to sample wonderful Indonesian flavours. The Balinese Champagne brunch includes various sharing dishes (fresh salads, curry-stuffed flatbread, grilled octopus) with one main course and one dessert to partake in too. Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) ice cream is just one of the exotic selections.

This is a great one to take out of towners to for a varied and delectable Chinese feast featuring dim sum and mains in a beautiful setting. The two Michelin-star restaurant has a sleek salon and green garden terrace, with interior walls draped in eye-catching artwork.  Of course the food is the main draw: chicken spring roll with garlic, crispy smoked duck breast and Hong Kong favourite sweet and sour pork with pineapple are just some of the offerings, along with rice and noodle dishes, a choice of dessert and a range of free flowing fresh juices and cocktails.

The name may have changed a bit, but the focus on quality meat is still there. Juicy burgers (they do some of the best in the city), hefty cuts of rib-eye or homemade sausages served with fried eggs and thickly-sliced bacon are perfect for soaking up the previous night’s shenanigans. For the hair of the dog crowd, there’s endless Champagne and fruity cocktails.

Perhaps one of the most talked-about brunches in Hong Kong, and for a reason – the food is fantastic. A full buffet of beautifully presented Japanese delicacies (including a good selection of sushi and sashimi) runs the length of the restaurant, ensuring the line is never long. Diners may choose to order a main course (some have supplementary charges) such their signature spicy beef tenderloin marinated in sesame, red chili and sweet soy or miso marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf. Dessert to share is served at the table after the meal. In spite of the fact that the restaurant is on the fancier side, Zuma does offer a kids’ corner with toys.

Definitely one of the swankier places on the list, the brunch at Tycoon Tann is a good opportunity to experience their food without the stiff price tags (dinner for two here can easily set you back $2,000). But the $648 free flow Champagne brunch gives you modern Chinese fare including dim sum and Peking duck, innovative signature dishes, savoury soups, rice and noodles, and luxury desserts.

Head to funky Korean restaurant JINJUU for a mix of traditional and modern Korean food in vibrant surroundings, and wind down to the live DJ tunes. Thai for brunch? Don’t mind if we do! Nix your usual Thai take-away cravings of pad thai and green curry and instead save it for a unique weekend brunch experience. Issaya has fabulous harbour and city views from its Causeway Bay location in a chic setting. After an extensive renovation a couple of years ago, The Pawn came back with British chef Tom Aikens at the helm with a new menu. Hearty mains like grilled sirloin steak or poached eggs with ‘coronation hollandaise’ can be paired with extras (from $35) like fish and chips and charcuterie, plus a choice of dessert from a long list (the sticky toffee pudding is wonderful). Located in Potato Head’s multi-purpose Sai Ying Pun space featuring a coffee shop, retail area, music space and bar is Kaum, home to Indonesian cuisine and a beautiful weekend brunch. The setting is intricate and authentic – stunning decor, including an exquisite wooden ceiling with panels handmade by artisans of the Toraja tribe in South Sulawesi – and the food is fragrant and colourful. The Balinese-inspired dishes come in small sharing plates, but you’ll have a chance to taste a variety as they’re unlimited. There’s also a main course to choose from, like the sumptuous Nasi Rames (rice with small portions of beef rendang, fried chicken, eggplant, prawn sambal and sweet corn fritters). Sometimes eggs just won’t cut it. If you wake up on the weekend with a craving for steak, go to Porterhouse for brunch. David Laris knows his beef, having interviewed several beef suppliers before opening this steakhouse. All beef prepared here is Linz Heritage USDA, Tasmanian grass-fed and A4 Wagyu from Japan. A buffet of the usual salads, charcuterie, cheese and dessert is on hand, but the real draw is the mains to choose from: signature burger, grilled beef striploin, grilled beef ribeye. But there’s also something too for non-meat eaters like spinach and goat cheese frittata and old fashioned pancakes with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Comforting Italian food made from simple recipes with fresh ingredients is Pirata’s philosophy and they stay true to this theme when it comes to their weekend brunch too. The asparagus flan appetizer is heavenly (asparagus, egg, cream, parmesan cheese fondue) as are the famous M.M.M (My Mamma’s Meatballs), but save room for mains like pappardelle with duck ragu and the chef’s selection dessert.
