Today’s free tip is in the Serie A game between Coritiba and Sao Paulo.

Coritiba have been solid at home this season in the sense that you always know what you’re going to get from them. Essentially, they’re very good at nullifying their opponents and on the few occasions that they’ve actually conceded at home, they’ve generally gone on to lose because they have no way back into the game. They’re tenacious and well-organised but lack any real class other than former Fenerbahce legend Alex, who should return from injury tonight. He’s the real leader of this team and anything good tends to come from him as former Barcelona striker Keirrison is something of a ghost nowadays and Ze Eduardo isn’t exactly Ronaldinho. I think it’s fair to say that there’s a lot to respect and admire about an uncompromising and stubborn Coritiba side, particularly when they’re playing at home. However, to rate them as something better than they are – which seems to be what’s happening, based on the odds movement – may be ill-advised.

I’m not suggesting that Sao Paulo are the finished article because they’re absolutely not. However, what I saw from them against table-toppers Cruzeiro lately was very, very good. They won 2-0 and it could have been worse if Sao Paulo had felt inclined to score more goals. They bossed the game, basically, and I’ve not seen anyone do that to Cruzeiro this season. Sao Paulo have played well over the past few weeks and haven’t lost for a while because of it. They miss talismanic playmaker Kaka tonight, which I suspect plays a part in people backing Coritiba. However, one thing that has become apparent with Sao Paulo over the past few weeks is that Kaka has galvanised the team rather than just carried it. Ganso is getting back to good form and with Pato, Kardec, Osvaldo, and Denilson in their ranks, Sao Paulo really aren’t short of options. I will freely admit that their attack won’t be as polished without him as it would be with him but Sao Paulo are riding the crest of a wave at the moment and are playing with tremendous confidence so I see no reason to doubt them here.

Ultimately, I don’t believe that Sao Paulo should be losing this game. It’s a really good test for the visitors, actually – we’ll see quite how they measure up for the Serie A title based on their displays in tough encounters like these. Coritiba will make it very hard for the away side but Sao Paulo have the match-winners to take the lead here and if they do so then they really should win the game. To me, irrespective of Kaka’s absence, I think that the value is on Sao Paulo to win with draw no bet cover at 9/10.

Verdict: Sao Paulo to win with draw no bet at 9/10. Why not bet on this game now at Bet365?
