How to participate
The PHmuseum Grant is an annual international initiative organized to support photographers, promote their projects and further their careers. Within the four previous editions it has awarded the work of photographers like Max Pinckers, Diana Markosian, Tomas van Houtryve, Rasmus Degnbol and Clémentine Schneiderman among many others, and it has grown into a leading photography award. Here is how you can present your work:
01. Sign up
Create an account, confirm your email address and go to phmuseum.com/grant. We have simplified the submission process, you can now apply without having to create a Photographer profile first.
02. Upload your story
Present a project of maximum 20 photos. At least 4 of them must be shot after January 1st, 2015. Photos recommended size is 1000px on the short side, weighing less than 5MB.
03. Review and submit
Review and submit your story, being aware that you will not be able to modify it after submission. Our judges will review the submissions, with winners to be announced in April 2017.

Prizes
Our international jury will award £12.000 in cash prizes, a solo exhibition at Cortona On The Move and other great opportunities.
1st Prize / £ 7.000 plus a publication on Witness, a projection at Just Another Photo Festival and promotion via PHmuseum.

Exhibition at Cortona On The Move / Cortona On The Move is one of the leading photo festivals in Europe. Arianna Rinaldo, the Artistic Director, will select a project among all the submissions, which will be granted a solo show at the festival’s 2017 edition in July. The prize will include the show production, travel expenses, accommodation and promotion through Cortona OTM channels.

Welcome to the PHmuseum 2017 Grant (PHM 2017 Grant or Grant).
This document defines the Terms and Conditions (Terms) that govern your use of the PHmuseum 2017 Grant (PHM 2017 Grant or Grant) webpages. These Terms apply between You (You or Entrant), and PHmuseum Ltd (PHmuseum or We), PHmuseum Ltd (Company Number 09474210) the United Kingdom based corporation with registered office at International House, 24 Holborn Viaduct, EC1A 2BN, London, United Kingdom, owning and operating the phmuseum.com website, all the related websites and services and the Photographic Museum of Humanity trademarks.
By ticking the Terms and Conditions box, clicking the Pay and Submit button in the fifth step of the Grant submission process and completing the entry fee payment, You participate in the PHM 2017 Grant and You hereby acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before applying to the PHM 2017 Grant.
1. GRANT RULES
The PHM 2017 Grant begins on December 12, 2016 at 12:01 am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and ends February 13, 2017 at 12:00 pm (GMT). Entrants can participate by clicking on the Apply Now button available at phmuseum.com/grant and following the submission guided process.
Entrants must be at least 18 years old as of the date of entry. Each Entrant can submit one or more “Project”, defined as a set of photos built around a concept or a topic. Each Project must feature a minimum of 8 photos and a maximum of 20 photos that will be taken under consideration by the PHM 2017 Judges. The photos must have been shot from January 2006 onwards and at least 4 photos must have been taken after January 1st 2015. Photos shall be uploaded in Jpg or Jpeg format and cannot weigh more than 8 Megabytes. To complete the submission of a Project, the Entrant shall pay an entry fee of GBP 20 for each Project submitted before January 12, 2017 and an entry fee of GBP 30 for each Project submitted from January 13, 2017 onwards.
Winners will be announced on www.phmuseum.com/grant within 90 days of the deadline or extended deadline day. By accepting these Terms You agree and accept that the decisions of the Judges are final on all matters relating to the PHM 2017 Grant. PHM 2017 Grant is void where prohibited.
2. PRIZES & JUDGES
The PHM 2017 Grant will offer the following prizes:
a) PHM 2017 Grant 1st prize: GBP 7.000 in cash, a projection at Just Another Photo Festival, promotion via PHmuseum channels and a publication on Witness – the online publication of World Press Photo Foundation;
b) PHM 2017 Grant 2nd prize: GBP 3.000 in cash, a projection at Just Another Photo Festival, promotion via PHmuseum channels and a publication on Witness – the online publication of World Press Photo Foundation;
c) PHM 2017 Grant 3rd prize: GBP 1.000 in cash, a projection at Just Another Photo Festival, promotion via PHmuseum channels and a publication on Witness – the online publication of World Press Photo Foundation;
d) PHM 2017 Grant New Generation Prize: GBP 1.000 in cash, a mentorship program with educator Maggie Steber consisting of four Skype meetings of two hours each, a projection at Just Another Photo Festival, promotion via PHmuseum channels and a publication on Witness – the online publication of World Press Photo Foundation;
e) A solo exhibition at photography festival Cortona On The Move, including the show production, travel and accommodation expenses;
f) PHM 2017 Grant Main Prize Honorable Mentions
g) PHM 2017 Grant New Generation Prize Honorable Mentions.
Prizes at points (a), (b), (c) and (f) will be assigned by these Judges: Sarah Leen, Emma Bowkett, Alejandro Chaskielberg and Ihiro Hayami.
Prizes at points (d) and (g) will be assigned by these Judges: Kate Bubacz, Fiona Parker, Alejandro Kirchuk and Poulomi Basu.
Prize at point (e) will be assigned by Judge Arianna Rinaldo and offered by the Associazione culturale ONTHEMOVE with offices in Via Roma 31, Cortona, Italy.
3. CANDIDATES UNDERTAKINGS
By ticking the Terms and Conditions box, clicking the Pay and Submit button in the fifth step of the Grant submission process and completing the entry fee payment, You participate in the PHM 2017 Grant and You hereby acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
By doing so, You also acknowledge and agree that You will not be able to:
a) delete or edit any photos of the submitted Project from the PHmuseum website nor alter their order;
b) delete or edit any information to the submitted Series from the PHmuseum website from the day You submit the Series to 90 days after the PHM 2017 Grant deadline or extended deadline.
By accepting these Terms and entering the PHM 2017 Grant You warrant that all the information submitted is true, current, and complete. You also warrant that You have all the necessary consents in relation to your entry and that You are the copyright owner of any copyright works submitted, e.g. photographs, texts, drawings, and PHmuseum’s use of such works will be at no charge, will not infringe the rights of any third party, and You will fully indemnify PHmuseum in the event of any infringement.
You also acknowledge that the full name of the winners may be published by PHmuseum, and You grant to PHmuseum a nonexclusive perpetual, worldwide royalty free license to use and publish your entries in whole or in part in any media form whatsoever, for the purposes of the Grant’s and PHmuseum’s promotion. You also agree that PHmuseum will have the right to use and publish the images for promotional and marketing purposes for the current and future seasons of the Grant on any media worldwide without notice or without any fee being paid.
If the photographs contain any material or elements that are not owned by the Entrant and/or that are subject to the rights of third parties, and/or if any persons appear in the photograph, the Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photograph, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the publication, exhibition and use of the photograph in the manner set forth in these Terms without additional compensation. If any person appearing in any photograph is under the age of majority in their state/province/territory of residence the signature of a parent or legal guardian is required on each release.
3. PHMUSEUM UNDERTAKINGS
PHmuseum commits to credit the due amount to the winners within 90 days after the winners announcement, provided that the winner communicates via email to PHmuseum (i) valid and complete bank account details and (ii) a copy of his/her ID within 30 days after the winners announcement.
PHmuseum will notify the winner of each prize at the email address associated to the winner’s PHmuseum account within 90 days after the Grant closing date. The winner will have 30 days from the day he or she will be notified to answer PHmuseum and claim his or her prize. If PHmuseum is unable to notify the winner, or if the winner fails to respond within the fixed time period as specified, this may result in forfeiture of the prize and PHmuseum reserves the right to select an alternative winner in accordance with these Terms and the Grant information.
PHmuseum may in its sole discretion refuse to provide a prize, or seek its recovery, in the event of nonentitlement under these Terms or an Entrant’s breach of these terms and conditions, PHmuseum’s website terms of use, fraud, dishonesty, or other inappropriate or improper conduct including but not limited to the use of technology which enables an Entrant to evade charges or entry requirements.
PHmuseum commits to always mention the author copyrights. When You submit photographs to the PHmuseum website, You remain the copyright owner of the photographs You submit to the PHmuseum website and PHmuseum does not claim ownership over the photographs. 4. LICENSES/RELEASES
By ticking the Terms and Conditions box, clicking the Pay and Submit button in the fifth step of the Grant submission process and completing the entry fee payment, You candidate Your Series to the PHM 2017 Grant and You make the following representations and warranties:
a) You can lawfully enter into contracts under applicable law and You are at least 18 years old;
b) You have obtained and have copies of model releases from all subjects depicted in the photograph(s) You submit to the PHM 2017 Grant, and such persons voluntarily consented to publication and/or dissemination of their likeness for all legal purposes.
Neither PHmuseum nor their associates, affiliates or partners assume any responsibility for photos submitted in violation of these Terms. Images that demonstrate violations on copyright and/or Grant policies will be removed & disqualified by PHmuseum after due investigations.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, Entrants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless PHmuseum and each of their respective partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in the PHM 2017 Grant or any PHM 2017 Grant-related activities.
PHmuseum assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Grant entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms.
PHmuseum is not responsible for any issue with or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any damage to Entrants’ or any other persons’ computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading, or downloading of any materials related to this Grant
Neither PHmuseum nor its servants, agents, nor any other party or organization involved in the management, promotion, or administration of the Grant or its entry routes or donation of prizes or their agents or subsidiaries involved in the Grant will accept responsibility or liability for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorized access to entries, or entries lost or delayed whether or not arising during operation or transmission as a result of network availability, server functions (including but not limited to security functions by software used by PHmuseum or any third party), virus, malware, trojans, bugs, or other causes outside its control.
6. DISPUTE AND CLAIMS
You acknowledge and agree that these PHM 2017 Grant Terms together with the PHmuseum Privacy Policy, as well as any claim that might arise between You and PHmuseum, shall be governed and interpreted according exclusively to the law of the United Kingdom. You further acknowledge and agree that the courts of London, United Kingdom shall be the exclusive forum where You agree to resolve any claim, cause of action or dispute between You and PHmuseum arising out of or relating to these Terms.
7. RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND GRANT
If for any reason the Grant is not capable of running as planned for bugs, worms, trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of PHmuseum that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Grant, PHmuseum reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Grant.
PHmuseum cannot promise that the services relating to the Grant will be free from errors or omissions nor that they will be available uninterrupted and in a fully operating condition. These services may be suspended temporarily and without notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for reasons reasonably beyond the control of PHmuseum. PHmuseum will not be liable in the event that all or any part of the service relating to the Grant is discontinued, modified or changed in any way.
