Living in Tapping for 15 years, its sod’s law that as soon as I move away, my old ‘hood gets a super cool eatery! There’s something nostalgic about cruising down familiar roads, especially when those roads lead to a drool-worthy burger joint. We popped in for a pint at The Duke, a place I once called my local, and made a pit stop at Perth Burger Collective. It’s found in a cool little retail row, just behind Coles Banksia Grove. I made a mental note to check out Hunter and Fleur for a coffee too.
I’d heard on the foodie grapevine this neighborhood spot is by the guys behind Wanneroo brunch stalwart Cafe Elixir (a place I’d still drive 40kms for a bowl of coffee!). So straight off the bat, I had a good feeling this spot was going to serve up a burg that was better than your average.
Perth Burger Collective is more of a takeaway spot, though there are a few tables if like us, you want to eat your burgers fresh off the grill.
Perth Burger Collective Menu
If you haven’t tried one of these babies yet, buckle up; you’re in for a tasty ride. The burgers are everything you could want in a patty – perfectly smashed, well-seasoned, and seared to crisp, juicy perfection. Oh and all burgers come with a side of fries. Mr H devoured the “Double Oklahoma” with two meaty smash patties, dirty onions, American cheese, crispy onion rings, and Jack Daniels BBQ sauce – plus maple bacon.
I ordered the “Bacon and cheeseburger” a smash patty loaded with American cheese, maple bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, a tangy Jack Daniels sauce and kewpie mayo. The maple bacon added a sweet flavour to the burger’s meaty goodness. I loved it.
Of course, what’s a burger joint without some killer sides? Perth Burger Collective knows how to do it right with choices of buffalo wings, buttermilk chicken, deep fried pickles, Big Mac and cheese bites and more. Though the star of the show at Perth Burger Collective is the iconic smash burgers, we just had to try their buttermilk fried chicken tenders too. Ohhh they were good!
Perth Burger Collective is doing a stellar job of flipping and assembling delicious burgers. We thoroughly enjoyed them. Our only note is that many burgers at PBC are a little more expensive than many burger spots, even the iconic Bad Love. Whether you’re a Wanneroo/Joondalup local or just passing through the area, do yourself a favor and slide into this joint.
