I’ve been daydreaming about taking a blissful bath for years. Soaking in a bath, for me, is time very well spent. Somewhere I can truly escape without any distractions – especially those of the electronic kind. Australia’s southwest is another place I love to escape to. An intoxicating haven of craggy coastlines, bushland wilderness, and prestigious vineyards. Whatever your idea of a blissful break is (be it foodie, nature, or for relaxation), it is sure to unfold at Melo Studios Dunsbrough.

Review of Melo Studios Dunsborough

While Melo Studios lured me in with the promise of a sensational soak in its oversized bath, the boutique accommodation offers so much more. The exquisite retreat is nestled smack, bang in the vibrant heart of Dunsborough. From the moment I set foot inside their two-bedroom studio, I knew I was in for an extraordinary experience.

The design concept of Melo Studios revolves around the native Eucalyptus Caesia tree, also known as the ‘Gungurru.’ Mr H and I stayed in the green studio, appropriately named ‘Eucalypt,’. Its decor echos the lush greenery of the Gungurru tree. The pink studio next door, ‘Caesia,’ has delicate hues mirroring the tree’s beautiful pink flowers.

Both studios offer a private ensuite, a kitchenette, lounge and dining area, and even a small courtyard with BBQ, ensuring all the comforts of home.

At Melo, it’s all in the detail. From luxe natural products to the gourmet treats, they leave no stone unturned in sourcing the finest local offerings – from Margaret River Roasting Co.’s coffee beans, to the oil-infused care products by Leif.

There’s plenty of handy inclusions – WiFi access, STAN tv streaming, and playing my favorite tunes through their portable Sony speaker, filling the studio with chilled melodies of the Tesky Brothers. The king beds are made up with super comfortable Microcloud bedding. We had a few very good night’s sleep on the super soft sheets.

What truly sets Melo Studios apart is their biiiiig baths and incredibly decedent ensuites! No doubt, the highlight of our stay—the magnificent 1.5-meter round bath. It is pure indulgence, a haven of tranquility where I could soak away my worries. A bath bomb by Artesan Soap Works added to the spa-like experience, leaving me feeling rejuvenated. Two people can very comfortably fit in the bath. The very tall Mr H and I indulgently watched soccer from the tub.

And let’s not forget that each cottage has TWO bedrooms – though to be fair, I wouldn’t want to share. The second bedroom and it’s ensuite are a touch smaller than the main. There’s no bath, but it’s beautiful none the less.

Dining in Dunsborough

Dunsborough, serves up oodles of the chilled-out coastal vibe it’s so well-regarded for, and has become a worthy destination in itself. Plus, it’s so close to Busselton and Yallingup.

When we ventured out, the central location of Melo Studios meant we were mere footsteps from restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, boutiques and the beach. Though Red Manna, Yarri and Lady Lola all caught my foodie eye – this time, Mr H and I were after casual bites to eat. Here’s a few spots I recommend:

Everyone needs a go-to coffee spot – Merchant & Maker is mine when in Dunsborough. We took leisurely strolls along the coastal path with a morning coffee, relishing in the beauty of Geographe Bay’s white sands and the charming streets of Old Dunsborough.

At first glance, I wasn’t sure what to make of Occys. The casual brewery-eatery sure does bring the goods when it comes to delicious share food, friendly service and great locally made drinks.

I was so impressed, we returned to next night for more of its cracking menu!

Wild Hop Brewing Co, a short drive away, is a south west brewery that does things a little differently.

No burgers and pizzas are found on the menu here. You’re sure to relish their kitchen’s saucy lamb ribs, giant battered pickles, roast chooks and more. It’s top quality stuff.

Melo, managed by Margaret River Properties, is a refuge where you can rekindle your energy, and take a delicious break from your everyday routine.

Melo Studios Dunsborough is a luxurious, relaxing, and centrally located haven which I’d absolutely recommend for a romantic getaway with your love. I, for one, would absolutely return to this dreamy dwelling, where that blissful tub awaits.
