It’s been a minute since we’ve posted here. Life’s been busy, and unfortunately some things had to take a slow. Hope everyone has been well and staying safe and healthy. We’re going to be pushing out some reviews for Brooklyn Grooming, a small homebrew type of company out of New York. My experience in using these products have been unique, and hope you guys enjoy these reviews.
Design
The Sea Salt Spray comes in a 4oz glass spray bottle. Blue bottle with white labeling and a red/brick print. Gives a classic look, but differs a bit from their pomades, which is an amber glass with black labeling and a metallic gold print. Either way, I dig the art a ton. Traditional American tattoo/sailor vibes done well.
Scent
Listed as: Mandarin, Clary sage and Cedar wood. What I get is a sweet, earthy orange peel. Refreshing to the nose, and not overly abundant.
Consistency
It’s a spray. Can’t say much when much of it is water.
Application
Straightforward to apply. Just don’t get it on your mirror or glasses. Oil is a bit hard to remove.
Shine
Essentially matte once everything dries up.
Texture
That nice textured finish.
Strength
It’s a light/medium hold. Definitely a bit stronger than a lot of sea salt sprays I’ve tried.
Control
Loose control but it’s better once you use a blowdryer. Things seem to “set” in a bit more than when used only and air dried.
Below are images from when things are left to dry alone for 10 minutes
Below are results from styling with a blow dryer
Endurance
It kinda lasts all day until you wash things out. The oils in this seem to help it endure recombing and messing around with
Restyling
You can somewhat clean things up, but don’t expect much, if any, slickness from the product. A sea salt spray should not be something you’re using to have a super clean look.
Greasy
None
Dryness
None. No crackly feeling or hardening up whatsoever
Rinsing
Water alone is sufficient enough to wash everything out. It also doesn’t leave your hair feeling dried out.

Conclusion
The Brooklyn Grooming: Pilgram’s Matte Finish Sea Salt Spray has been one of the more favorable choices in sea salt sprays. The hold is a tad bit stronger, which allows me to mess with the hair a bit more given the increase in flexibility of styling. So far, this has been my favorite scent, and as you’ll see in subsequent written reviews, the scents created by the folks at Brooklyn Grooming are something next level. You just know they took a ton of time to R&D the f*ck out of the scent to a level of amazing refinement. The Mandarin / Cedarwood / Sage is very pleasant. I see myself using this as a prestyle, or a standalone for those messy/textured hair days.
