Ford recently unveiled the 2018 Ford Expedition, the company’s all-new full-size SUV, and it’s chock full of technology.

Normally when we chat cars we dig into the engine, horsepower and that other good stuff, but Ford actually highlights a lot of the consumer-friendly gadgetry that’s available to drivers and riders. That includes wireless charging — the 2018 Expedition is the first car in Ford’s fleet to offer that — a Wi-Fi hotspot for connecting up to 10 devices, 360-degree cameras, six USB chargers and four 12-volt power outlets, 12 B&O speakers and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support. There are also rear-entertainment systems on two seat-backs.
Some of those features, like the hotspot functionality and the speakers, can be found in plenty of other cars, but it seems like Ford did a nice job putting everything together. You’ll just need to be willing to pay for the cost to outfit a 2018 Expedition with those features.
The 2018 Ford Expedition is equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It was built with a brand new high-strength steel frame, too, allowing Ford to shave 300 pounds off of the car’s total weight. Four models will be available, including Platinum, Limited and XLT options, as well as an XL version that’s being specially built for emergency services and law enforcement customers.
Ford said the 2018 Expedition, which will be built in Louisville, Kentucky, will hit the market this fall.
