Boomers Owe a Debt to the Young. Gen Ys whinge that Baby Boomers had it all – free education, a burgeoning economy, affordable homes, which has put them miles ahead financially of younger generations. Should the young just deal with their fate, respect their elders and work hard to do more for a large, ageing population, or do boomers have a price to pay?
The debate will be held at The City Recital Hall, Sydney on 23 August. It’s bound to be not only topical but fiery too I’d say! The speakers for the motion are Grattan Institute’s John Daley and The Chaser’s Zoe Norton Lodge. The speakers against are demographer Bernard Salt and former NSW Liberal Party leader Kerry Chikarovski. A really interesting blend of perspectives on Australia’s economic and cultural situation.
