Technical Author/Developer Advocate
Our award-winning cloud technology client is looking for an enthusiastic technical author/developer advocate to be the voice of the developer and play a key role in authoring technical stories and user documentation to support the development of their products and services. This is a fantastic opportunity to really make this role your own; they have no ideas set in stone and are open to all suggestions regarding tools and documentation best practice.
As the sole technical author, you will be responsible for:
Acting as a key contact to make sure that developers have everything they need to build solutions with the product, including documentation, tools, sample code and training.
Building an active developer community through which developers will recommend the product to others and have an interest in its success.
Developing and maintaining technical and user documentation for all products and services built and supported by the development team, ensuring it is easily searchable, navigable and traversable.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
Technical authoring experience in a software development environment, ideally working on developer level documentation such as API/SDK documents.
Solid experience of working within an Agile Scrum team with experience of using agile tools (eg JIRA) to document stories, plan, estimate and report on progress.
Good experience using analytical tools (eg Google Analytics) to build reports, identify anomalies, and test hypotheses.
Deep understanding of architectures that support mobile web applications including responsive design and hybrid models for native device applications.
Extensive knowledge in the areas of custom software development, Object Orientated Design patterns, web services, Middleware and messaging technologies.
You will also have a solid understanding of:
Technical design, development, and deployment of highly scalable web based systems.
Cloud (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) technologies.
Large global platforms (eg CMS, DAM, ERP, CRM), eCommerce platforms (eg Hybris, IBM WebSphere, Oracle ATG, DemandWare), Open Source platforms, frameworks and components (eg Cassandra, Solr, NodeJS, AngularJS).
Coding languages including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Java, PHP.
