On Feb. 19, the Sawyer Ott Memorial Foundation will host the annual Sawyer Birthday Spaghetti Dinner at the Reed Point High School starting at 5 p.m.
The event includes a silent auction, a coloring contest, birthday cake and much more. Bingo and trivia nights will also start up with the upcoming opening of the Waterhole Saloon in Reed Point.
“The reason I started it was just so that even though Sawyer wasn’t here anymore, his name is still known,” says Audrey Ott, mother of Sawyer Ott and founder of the Sawyer Ott Memorial Foundation.
Following the accident involving their son back in February 2021, Audrey and Wacey Ott created the Sawyer Ott Memorial foundation as a way to keep the name of her son alive and help other grieving families turn their losses into something more positive.
Through the foundation, Audrey has been able to help families who have also lost children unexpectedly through donation and through the creation of their Memorial Park.
“I’ve created a safe environment for people to play in and I’ve worked on bringing the community back together through activities,” says Audrey.
The foundation has been working hard to update and complete the Sawyer Ott Memorial Park that currently resides in Reed Point. On top of working towards the completion of the park, the foundation has been busy donating $25,000 to families dealing with loss, donating to Reed Point schools athletic, and hosting annual events to bring the community together.
“In the future we want to continue to make lasting relationships and help families through their dark times. I hate seeing families suffer like that,” says Audrey.
