Updated: Added Welsh versions of the Disability Confident employer packs for levels 1, 2 and 3.

The Disability Confident scheme aims to help employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people. It is voluntary and has been developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives.

The Disability Confident scheme has 3 levels that have been designed to support you on your Disability Confident journey. You must complete each level before moving on to the next.

It is free to sign up and use our guidance.

Level 1: Disability Confident committed employer

To start your Disability Confident journey, you’ll need to sign up with your commitment. This involves:

providing your contact details

signing up to the Disability Confident commitments

identifying at least one thing that you can do that will make a difference for disabled people

When you have signed up, we’ll send you:

a certificate in recognition of your achievement

a badge to use on your website and other materials for 12 months

a self-assessment to help you continue your journey to becoming a Disability Confident employer

To become a Disability Confident employer, you’ll need to self-assess your business against a set of statements grouped into 2 themes:

getting the right people for your business

keeping and developing your people

When we receive your self-assessment, we’ll send you:

a certificate in recognition of your achievement

a badge to use on your website and other materials for 2 years

information to help you continue your journey to becoming a Disability Confident leader

Level 3: Disability Confident leader

By stepping up to become a Disability Confident leader, your business can gain recognition among your peers. You’ll be acting as a champion within your local and business community, your supply chain and your networks. You’ll be showing disabled people that you are serious about leading the way and about helping other businesses to become Disability Confident.

To become a Disability Confident leader, you’ll need to:

have your self-assessment validated from outside your business

show what you have done as a Disability Confident leader

When we receive your validated assessment, we’ll send you a badge to use on your website and other materials for 3 years.
