The Dekko project will no longer be releasing or supporting click packages for Ubuntu Touch, with focus now being on snap packages and following the future of the platform. With the re-write of Dekko over the past year a lot has changed and we are still working towards a stable replacement. Some really great new features have been implemented and the overall stability has been greatly improved.

Click packages have been deprecated for some time now. Development has also ended on the vivid based Ubuntu Touch images and with a snap replacement being actively worked on. It doesn't make sense to continue supporting this deprecated format. I'm personally excited with the future of snaps and what it will do for Ubuntu in general.

There are development snap builds available in the edge channel if you want to follow progress as we push for a stable release.

$ snap install --edge --devmode ubuntu-app-platform

$ snap install --edge --devmode dekko

Over the next week I will be going through the current bug list and closing any bugs related to the current Ubuntu Touch version as there will be no active development going forward. If you find an issue still exists with the snap version, then please re-open the bug. I will keep any bugs I feel still apply to the new version.

Kind Regards and a Happy New Year

Dan Chapman
