Leek Town manager Lee Casswell is confident his side can cause another cup upset.

The Blues have disposed of Witton Albion and Brackley Town to reach the FA Trophy First Round Proper, with the reward a trip to high-flying Altrincham Town of the Skrill North.

Ahead of Saturday’s tie at the J. Davidson Stadium, Casswell told StaffsLive: “It’s a big game and everyone’s looking forward to it.

“The lads know what to expect and it’s going to be a tough game, but they all feel we have a chance.

“I don’t think the club has been in this position for quite a while so we’re gonna go and enjoy it.

“Everyone’s keen and everyone wants to play.”

But for Leek Town, who play in the Evo-Stik First Division South, it’s not about just making up the numbers.

“We went to Brackley and got a 0-0 draw. I think we can do the same again.

“We’ve got to give ourselves a chance and keep in the game.

“And if we don’t we get knocked out – simple as that!”

The Staffordshire club went on to beat Brackley Town 2-1 after extra time on Tuesday (November 26) thanks to goals from youngster John Johnston and midfielder Dan Shelley.

But Casswell is wary of the threat posed by Saturday’s opponents.

He said: “The forwards are both dangerous.

“They can both create goals and score goals. But they also have quality throughout the side.

“We’ve got to stay in the game as long as we can and start well.”

And there is plenty his side can take into the tie following the victory on Tuesday night.

“The energy levels need to be like the lads managed against Brackley. I don’t think they could cope with us if I’m honest.

“They had a spell in the second half where we were sloppy and tiring. And they scored at that point, which is disappointing.”

Casswell also said there are no new injury concerns and fans can expect to see a full strength side tomorrow.
