Experience the wonder of London theatre closer to home. The Deep Blue Sea is a National Theatre masterpiece written by Terence Rattigan being streamed live to the E M Forster in Tonbridge at 7pm. The two protagonists are portrayed by the wonderful Helen McCrory (Medea and Penny Dreadful) and Tom Burke (War and Peace and the BBC’s Musketeers.) Director Carrie Cracknell will take you on a 180-minute journey back to the 1952 to explore the themes of love, pain and longing.

2nd » Classic Country

A festivity dedicated to country singers and songs written by female artists across the decades is to be presented at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. The Queens of Country concert features classic songs from country stars like Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette to modern celebrities like Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes and Shania Twain. 2nd » Centre Stage

With a firm focus on the music, curators of In the Woods festival pride themselves on picking the best new acts months, or even years before they make it big. From September 2, the bands play over two intimate stages under a beautifully lit forest canopy, with intriguing art installations to be found along the way. Locally-sourced food and ale, a silent disco and giant midnight bonfire keep things going until sunrise. To keep with the mystery, the line-up and location is released a week before the festival.

8th » Songbook Sessions

The Queen’s Hall Theatre in Cranbrook will burst into song as the volume raises to welcome Katie Markman in a performance of Someone Like You – The Adele Songbook. Taking centre stage, she’ll be singing tunes chosen by Adele herself including Chasing Pavements, Set Fire to the Rain and multi-million seller Skyfall. 13th » Picture Perfect

From September 13 to 21, the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge is hosting Street Photographer by Andrew Mason – a display of dramatic images. Mason, who studied in London in the early eighties and became captivated with the way individuals lived and acted in private and public situations, shot the images entirely in black and white. The display concentrates on depicting a person’s character from the happiness moments to gloomier and miserable instants.

17th » Shakespearean Seamstress

Come to National Trust Property Smallhythe Place, near Tenterden and learn about the extravagant and elegant costumes once worn by Dame Ellen Terry who was an English stage actress. A leading Shakespearean actress most famous for her portrayal of Portia in The Merchant of Venice and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, discover the captivating stories attached to her garments and what has to be done to conserve them.

Support Hospices of Hope join the Something Silver Fun Run at Knole Park in Sevenoaks on Sunday September 18. You can run, walk or even skip over the 2K or 5K race. A rarely performed romance of power, jealousy, the journey of love and reconciliation. Cymbeline is the ruler of a divided Britain. When Imogen, the only living heir, marries her sweetheart in secret, an enraged Cymbeline banishes him. Imogen embarks on a journey that will reunite the pair, however fate has other plans.

Join in the fun at the Cranbrook Literature Festival on September 30 and October 1 – a weekend full of celebrating literature through writing, learning and performing at events all over Cranbrook.
