Everything you need to know about in this weekly series: Conan O’Brien makes his way to Berlin, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 drops a new trailer featuring Baby Groot, Suicide Squad gets demolished with a new Honest Trailer, and one of the best games ever made gets a sequel.

At Social Underground we go beyond the mainstream stuff and see what’s underneath the surface. What should we get into, listen to, read, eat or watch? If there is something in our culture that needs attention that’s our job: Show you the underground things that you need to know about: Books, music, television, movies, comedians, art, and whatever else we can find to get you into something you never knew about. That’s The Underground.

1. Conan heads to Berlin for some goofy antics. While other late night hosts are playing games in their studio or talking about politics, Conan O’Brien sticks to what he does best: being funny. When Conan goes and does a remote segment, it’s almost always gold. When Conan heads to another country doing nothing but remote segments, it’s something to plan your entire week around — I planned my month.

This past week Conan went to Germany to get silly with the locals. He also got serious and showed the refugee situation that has been fleeing from war in Syria and Iraq. You can be a funny host, but when you can flip the script and be serious when the situation demands it, that means you’re the best host on television.

Here are a few choice clips from his journey. You can head to TeamCoco for a lot more.

2. Marvel shows off the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer. The first movie really came out of nowhere to break the mold of the usual Marvel films. Not only did it make nearly unknown characters into some of the most beloved comic book characters to ever grace the silver screen, it also turned Chris Pratt into an international superstar. It came as a shock since he was mostly known for being the lovable Andy Dwyer in Parks and Rec. I think it’s possible that all of the good will he built up in the show by being a good dude translated so well to movies. Also, BABY GROOT! Look at his little Star-Lord jacket!

Premise: Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

The film looks to expand on the unexpected brilliance of the first film. The special effects look amazing, the action looks fun, the humor returns, and the “will they or won’t they” between Peter Quill and Gamora will be there. Get your eyes all over this trailer right now:

3. The Honest Trailer for Suicide Squad really breaks down how bad that movie was. Unlike Guardians of the Galaxy, which used the soundtrack of the film as a device in the plot. Suicide Squad jam-packed the whole damn film with as much music as possible. We hated the movie for good reason: It wasn’t any good. It was humiliating for everyone involved, especially Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

The real stand-out in the film was Jared Leto. He wasn’t a stand-out because he was good, but because he was the worst Joker in the history of film or TV. You could literally edit him out of the film entirely and it wouldn’t matter. His overacting was mostly confusing and unnecessary. What makes his performance even worse was his strange antics on the set and on social media. There’s the Daniel Day Lewis class of method acting, and then there’s the Jared Leto class. One gives us some of the best performances in film, and the other makes you want to watch Fight Club again just to watch Edward Norton punch his face off. That scene could be used in place of Xanax now.

I could go on and on about how bad this movie is — I watched it again the other day just to make sure — but I’ll let the honest trailer expertly throw this POS back into Arkham Asylum.

4. The Last of Us Part II trailer will definitely put me on the pre-order list. One of the greatest films I have ever seen was a walkthrough of The Last of Us on YouTube. I know that sounds silly, but someone managed to edit it all together to have a very long movie with a great story. The moment I bought a PS4, I signed up for a feature where I could play PS3 games. The first game I chose was The Last of Us. It was difficult, but totally worth it even though I knew the story. Didn’t batter because it was so damn fun and it took me a while to beat.

When you have amazing game designers and a great story, you get a masterpiece like that. It came as a surprise to me that a sequel was announced, but then again, it comes as no surprise since the first game was and still is one of the best video games every made. The trailer for the game below shows the two main characters in a house full of dead people (naturally), and for some reason I got a little teared up from the trailer. It reminds me a bit of the end of The Lord of the Rings: The gamer/audience went on a huge immersive journey with these characters, and to see them again was a good feeling. Like LOTR, you feel a big feeling of accomplishment when you get to the end, but The Last of Us Part II will lead us on a new journey.

Just take my money already NaughtyDog! Enjoy the trailer below. They even nailed the physics of playing guitar. Wow.
