Let’s face it:

Setting up a YouTube channel is easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I mean, come on, everyone with half-a-brain can create a YouTube account and start uploading videos. But, when it comes to growing a SUCCESSFUL YouTube channel, only a few know the “trick.”

If you’re like the vast majority of video bloggers, I’m sure you see what I’m talking about…

You spend hours and hours recording your video, not to mention the time you spend editing it and putting all together, but in spite of all those efforts, once you hit the “publish” button, it seems like nobody cares.

Of course, you get a couple dozens of views, and, sometimes, a couple of dumb comments, but let’s face it: If you want to succeed, you need MUCH more than that.

Now, do you know how lucky are you?

I’m serious! Believe it or not, the mere fact you’re reading this post means you’re a very fortunate person.

Why? You ask.

Well, I’ll tell you in a minute, but first, let me cover another relevant concern.

If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you might have noticed I’ve been publishing a series of posts to help our readers grow any kind of business through effective Twitter Marketing.

I started by showcasing how a little-known New Jersey-Based doctor turned into a podcast celebrity by using our methods.

Then, I showed you how to implement the same strategy to drive insane amounts of traffic to your blog.

And now, my friend, I’m going to show you a simple trick to turn your mediocre YouTube channel into something extraordinary…in less than 90 days.

Yes, you read right, that’s ninety days.

So let’s get started.

Why Most YouTubers Fail

Before getting into the core training, I’d like to cover the main 3 reasons most YouTube Video Bloggers fail.

Why? The answer is very simple:

I honestly believe the best way to start off on the right foot is by understanding how NOT to do things. This way, you’re able to avoid unnecessary mistakes.

The late Sam Levenson said it better:

“You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.”

So basically, most YouTubers fall into one of the below categories. Take a look through them, and see if any describe you:

1. They’re Lazy – many YouTubers think the effort implied in creating and uploading a new video every week or every month is enough, so they don’t do any promotion whatsoever after that. I think this is one of the most common mistakes within the video blogging community – I mean, most YouTubers don’t treat their channel as a real business.

2. They “Hit Publish And Pray” – other video bloggers think YouTube will do all the work for them. They believe that by “optimizing their headlines,” writing keyword-rich descriptions,” and doing God knows what other SEO BS, YouTube will magically rank their videos at the top. Sadly, it doesn’t work that way.

3. Promote without strategy – other smarter videobloggers understand the importance of promotion, but they don’t have a plan in place. They just promote their videos for the sake of promoting but, unfortunately, this approach won’t help either.

Now you might be thinking:

“All right, I understand none of the above methods work, so what’s the right way to grow a YouTube channel?”

Well..to be honest…I’m not sure.

I don’t know what’s the best way to grow a Video Blog, but I’ll tell you what I do know…

An engaged, loyal, and relevant Twitter following can help you do it!

And here’s why:

Promote your channel without seeming spammy – unlike other social networks, Twitter allows you to promote your videos over and over again without seeming spammy (of course, you need to do it right, but don’t worry, I’ll show you how in a minute).

Grow quickly and cheaply  – with the right approach, you can grow a large following, eager to consume every video you upload. Better yet, you can do it quickly and without spending a fortune.

Listen what your audience really want – if you “listen,” you can get a ton of valuable insights about your audience’s way of thinking (which, at some point, will help you improve your YouTube Marketing strategy).

Expand your message – not only can you promote your videos with your followers, but they will help you evangelize the people at the other side of the spectrum, too. I mean, for every retweet you get, you’re able to expand your message to new horizons.

Now, if that doesn’t help you see the potential of Twitter as a promotion platform, I’m sure that nothing will.

That being said, here’s how to grow a solid following to promote your Video Blog.

The 5-Step Approach to Growing a YouTube Channel with Twitter

As we’ve stated in our previous case studies, the strength of our approach lies in our ability to:

Intercept relevant conversations about competitors

Follow the people involved in those conversations (and get the higher amount of them to follow back)

Join the conversations by sharing relevant, valuable content

This method ensures that you build a following who actually cares about what you’ve to say. I mean, instead of just following random people in your industry, you focus on following people who really engage with content related to your topic.

So let’s break down each step:

Step # 1: Identify Opportunities on Twitter

Remember, your goal is to intercept Twitter conversations about your competitors, so the first thing you need to do is answer a simple question: What YouTube channels my audience is already watching?

Here are two ways to figure it out:

a) Find Popular YouTube Channels in Your Industry

For instance, let’s assume that you run a Nutrition and Fitness YouTube channel. In this case, the kind of subscribers you’d be looking for should be people interested in losing weight and getting healthy, right?

If you were one of those people, what kind of videos would you be watching?

Well, here are three obvious options:

Videos about diets

Workout routines

Nutrition tips

What you’d need to do now is perform a quick YouTube search for one of the above terms.

By taking a look at the results, you’ll find a bunch of relevant YouTube channels, and, some of them, might have an active Twitter audience, too. So create a list of at least 20 of them (you’ll use that list in the following step).

b) OpenSlate

OpenSlate allows you to quickly identify YouTube influencers in your niche by performing keyword searches.

For instance, if you want to find gaming YouTube Influencers, all you’d need to do is type in the keyword “gaming” into the search bar and OpenSlate will search through all the registered channels and will show you the most relevant ones, based on social media influence and the overall channel’s performance.

This is obviously a simpler alternative to option b, but there’s a catch. You need to have at least 5,000 subscribers to access the tool.

Step # 2 Shorten Your List of “Opportunities” on Twitter

In this step, you’ll separate the wheat from the chaff by identifying those competitors who do have an active Twitter audience.

Notice I said “active,” not big. Many people think that a huge following means higher reach, but that isn’t always the case. A small, but engaged audience is much more valuable than a giant audience of ghosts.

Now, the easiest way to find a competitor’s Twitter account is by performing a quick Google search.

Just head over to Google and enter one of the following search strings:

Your competitor’s name + Twitter

Your competitor’s pseudonym + Twitter

Your competitor’s YouTube username + Twitter

If your competitor has a Twitter account, this will be enough to find it.

Once you find it, make sure to analyze two things:

Engagement

Size

As I said earlier, engagement is crucial, and you should always prioritize it, but, if you do find a competitor with an active, huge following, that’s much better.

Now create a list of at least 10 competitors with an active Twitter following.

Step # 3 Intercept Twitter Relevant Conversations for Your YouTube Channel

Once you’ve a list of “opportunities” in place, it’s time to intercept conversations. Don’t worry, it’s really straightforward.

First, you need to head over Twitter’s Advanced Search – a tool that allows you to sort through all the Twitter conversations based on keywords, date, accounts, hashtags, and other criteria.

Now, grab one of the Twitter handles you found in the last step and enter it in the section called “to these accounts.”

Then, click “Search,” and Twitter will show you all the conversations people are having about that particular competitor.

This tells you two things:

Those people tend to engage with YouTubers in your industry

Those people are very likely to engage with you, too

In simpler words, they’re the kind of followers you want to get. So, every time you intercept one of those conversations, follow the people involved. According to some experiments, around 20 to 25 out of 100 people you follow will follow you back.

Now listen, I can promise you something:

If you implement this process every day, for at least 90 days, you’ll build a solid Twitter following.

But, if you don’t have two or three hours every day to do this, don’t worry, you can still get results. How? Just create an account at Social Quant, and we we’ll do the dirty work for you. You can start a free trial here (no credit card required).

Bonus tip: Twitter’s Advanced Search is a very sophisticated tool. To learn all its functionalities, I highly recommend that you read this guide from Zappier.

Step # 4 Promote Your YouTube Channel on Twitter

At this point, you should have started intercepting conversations and getting some relevant followers. Now it’s time to leverage those followers. I mean, now you’ll see the fruit of your hard work.

But how? You might ask.

Well, by promoting your channel with your Twitter audience.

First, you need to turn your videos into at least 100 different phrases (and, of course, include a link back to your channel on each phrase). You’ll use this list of phrases to self-promote your channel without seeming too repetitive.

Here are three ways to do it:

a) Benefits

Just create a list of all the benefits people will get from watching your video and turn those benefits into phrases.

For example, if your video helps people lose weight, I can see at least 3 different benefits:

Health

Sex appeal

Comfort

Now, how can you turn those benefits into a phrase?

Simple: Just tell people what they want to hear.

See:

“Get healthier with these unexpected tips” + Link

“Learn how to be admired by men and envied by women with these amazing weight loss video” + link

“This workout routine will help you fit into your old clothes again.” + Link

b) Direct Quotes

Another option is to grab quotes directly from your videos.

For instance, let’s say you interviewed an authority in your niche. Well, you could turn that invaluable video into dozens of different quotes and share them with your followers. This way, you’d evoke curiosity, and they would be more likely to click your links.

Simple, don’t you think?

Once you have at least 100 different quotes, jump to the next step.

Step # 5 Automate the Promotion of Your YouTube Channel on Twitter

Whoa!

That was a lot of work, don’t you think?

Now, what if I tell you that you can automate all that tedious process?

Because you can!

You only need two tools:

Social Quant

Postplanner

First, Social Quant will do all the “intercepting and following” process on your behalf, which means you’ll have a solid Twitter following in less than 90 days…without any hard work.

Then, with the help of PostPlanner’s “requeue” feature, you can automate the promotion process, too. All you need to do is create an account, upload all the quotes you created in the last step, and voila!…PostPlanner will share those quotes over and over again…indefinitely.

Now, with Social Quant building your following and PostPlanner promoting your videos, you have the perfect funnel.

It’s like owning a robot.

It’s Your Call

As you can see, building and growing a YouTube channel is not that hard when you have a proven strategy in place.

But here’s the thing:

Even a proven strategy is worthless when you don’t apply it. Period.

In simpler words, if you want to get the most out of this method, you need to actually work on it.

Because if you do it, and I mean, really do it, I can promise you’ll start getting better results from day one.

But it’s your call – make the right one.
