Celebrate Leap Day with Snowflake Designs
Leap Day is special because it only comes once every four years. Did you know that there is an important scientific reason that we have Leap Year? According to NASA, leap years occur due to the Earth's orbit. It takes the earth about 365 days and 6 hours to orbit the sun, so those 6 extra hours need to add up somewhere on the calendar. So, every four years, we add a day to the shortest month of the year to account for these 6 extra hours. Adding this extra day every four years keeps our seasons and calendar in sync.

Did you know several other major events also occur every four years and usually take place during leap years? Such as the Summer Olympics! The 2024 Summer Olympics take place July 26 - August 11 in Paris, France. The Summer Olympics is a huge event for everyone in the gymnastics industry. The best gymnasts in the world train their whole lives for an opportunity to compete at the Olympics. People love to watch the amazing gymnasts show off their skills, strength, and grace at the Olympic Games. It is incredible to watch these world-class athletes do what they do best and achieve their dreams.
The 2024 Olympics are going to be like never before. The U.S. has 3 returning all-around Olympic gold medallists trying to make the 2024 team. Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, and Sunisa Lee are all training hard and fighting to represent Team USA one more time. In addition to these amazing gymnasts, several collegiate gymnasts are returning to elite gymnastics to try and make the Olympic team. Leanne Wong, Jordan Chiles, Kayla DiCello, and Sunisa Lee are all NCAA Gymnastics superstars who are making their comeback in elite gymnastics. The competition is FIERCE. I would have to say that I think this is the most talent that the U.S. has ever seen leading up to the Olympic Games. Deciding who will be on Team USA is going to be a hard decision with so many extraordinary gymnasts in the running. Who do you think is going to be on the 2024 Olympic team?
