The EIP-SCC Action Cluster on Business Models, Finance & Procurement is looking for Smart Cities business models in order to collect real experiences of business models developed for Smart Cities projects. If you have an example, do not wait more: send us your contribution (fill in the CANVAS template you will find in this link) before the 3rd of October and help us to build this library!
Every business or project aiming to be economically sustainable relies on a business model, consciously developed or not. It describes how the project creates value for clients, the mechanisms used for delivering this value and how the company/entrepreneur gets profit back. Therefore, a suitable business model is key for assuring continuity and success of an initiative both in the short and in the long term.
In the particular case of Smart City projects, traditional business models may not be appropriate for their specific characteristics: they usually need long term investments, as the profit-return occurs only in the long term, and they contain a big social-benefit component, which is not easy to value in monetary terms.
This is why the Action Cluster on Business Models is looking for case studies on business models applied in projects related to Smart Cities topics, such as energy efficiency, smart mobility or citizen engagement. For this purpose, the Action Cluster team encourages you to share your experiences on this field, successful or not, which will be useful for future initiatives. The final aim of this action is to collect a representative number of business models developed for Smart Cities projects in different markets to build a library collecting real experiences.
In case you would like to collaborate with this initiative, send the CANVAS template filled with the information about your smart city project by 3rd October 2016 to Anja De Cunto: Anja.DeCunto@eurocities.eu
If you already have a case study of your business model ready in another format, feel free to send it to us in the format/template you already have.
For any question, contact Anja.DeCunto@eurocities.eu or businessmodels@eu-smartcities.eu.
