Each week leading up to the National Awards of Excellence we will profile one of the National Club of the Year nominees.

Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club from Western Australia is one of five clubs to be nominated for the National Club of the Year Award. Have a read of some of the amazing work they have been doing to receive this well deserved nomination.

This year Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club celebrate 55 years of service to its local community.

The club has grown exponentially since its inception 55 years ago when a few hardy souls hiked through the sand dunes and set up a reel on the beach in the late fifties and when it was formally established in 1961.

The club has more recently, over the past 18 years, experienced dramatic growth to make it the large and busy place it is today.

Mullaloo SLSC’s has a strong culture of family and community, which can been seen across many aspects of the club.

Many of the families involved in the club volunteer their time together.

Mullaloo is known for its innovation and willingness to explore new and different ways of doing things.

Mullaloo SLSC understands that its future goes beyond just lifesaving services. Our Club is about distinguishing itself by displaying outstanding leadership, volunteerism and community service delivery.

The Club’s Management is aware of the continuing population growth in our area, as well as the changing demographics of beach users. The Club knows that it needs to remain dynamic, meeting the ever changing needs before it, be it the challenge to engage and keep members, provide club rooms that provide adequate facilities for our volunteers and determine how to become financially sustainable into the future.

The SLSC understand the importance of staying ahead of the game in order to maintain their high level of service in helping protect the community.
