The weeks and months leading to VMworld are the busiest for a lot of storage and virtualization companies. Engineering, marketing, and product management are always working together to put their best foot forward. It reminds me of the song from the Lego Movie: “Everything is awesome when you are part of a team”.

For SimpliVity, VMworld is special. After spending 43 months in R&D, we launched our product at VMworld in 2012 with the goal of simplifying IT.

This year, we also launched something special just before VMworld: OmniStack 3.0, the third generation of our “secret sauce” software that provides groundbreaking data efficiency, global unified management, and built-in data protection. The new software release supports a massive amount of new features and solutions, all of which will be demonstrated at the show, including improvements for multi-site and single site deployments, a new OmniCube CN-1200 for ROBO, easy deployment manager, break-through file level restore, and support for Lenovo System x3650.

My team, Corporate Technology Showcase (CTS), provides the globally accessible demo environments for VMworld 2015 to showcase these exciting SimpliVity features. We’re showcasing amazing results in booth 1029 – you need to see it to believe it! Even if you can’t make it to VMworld to see our booth, register for SimpliVity’s Virtual Pass to see demos, participate in live chats and watch videos of customers and executives.

VMworld 2015’s demo rigs were built based on customer use cases. We created three SimpliVity Federations for these demos to showcase how you can leverage SimpliVity in various customer environments.

1) Unified Protected ROBO

The ideal solution for ROBO infrastructure is one that will optimize backup and bandwidth, not require specialized IT resources, centralize management, and promote business continuity.

SimpliVity’s OmniStack Data Virtualization Platform ultimately solves the backup and bandwidth problems of ROBO sites with its unique method of deduplicating, compressing, and optimizing ALL data, inline at inception, once and forever, across all stages of the data lifecycle.

The Global Unified Management capabilities allow all hyperconverged infrastructure models across the federation to be managed from one user interface, from any location, which makes it simple for IT admins managing multiple ROBO locations.

You can see our Unified Protected ROBO use case at our booth, which consists of a federation with seven branch offices and a primary datacenter in a hub and spoke configuration. In the demos, you can see how you can seamlessly perform all of the SimpliVity data protection features even in a ROBO use case.

2) Global Unified Scale Federation

SimpliVity allows customers to hyperconverge the complexity out of the datacenter with a 2U building block that provides cloud economics and enterprise capabilities in a pay-as-you grow model. SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure eliminates the need for 8-12 point data center products, which not only simplifies management, but dramatically reduces the physical footprint within the data center. Clustering multiple SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure nodes creates a shared resource pool, ensuring high availability, efficient scaling, and predictable and linear performance.

For our demo, we have a federation with two data centers, each consists of eight and four nodes in each data center.

3) MultiPlatform Federation

Our last demo showcases how we support multiple server platforms. Running in conjunction with industry leading hypervisor platforms allows our software stack to easily run on any server in a consistent manner without having to worry about the overwhelming amount of drivers normally associated with OS-level development running native on a hardware platform. The OmniStack Accelerator Card is a PCIe device, so integrating it into any x86 platform isn’t an issue either.

The MultiPlatform federation has four data centers that consists of the OmniCube, Cisco and Lenovo integrated OmniStack systems within the same federation.

Along with the three Federations, you can also get a first hand experience on some of the new features and capabilities:

WebClient Tech Preview – One of the primary objectives at SimpliVity is to make it easy for our customers to manage their infrastructure. Our approach to a global unified management provides the ability to manage a whole federation from a single pane of glass. As we see customers transition into Webclient, at VMworld we will have a tech preview of the vSphere Webclient which has integration with SimpliVIty to manage hyperconverged infrastructure nodes. Make sure you stop by our booth to see it!

vRealize Automation integration with SimpliVity – SimpliVity’s integration with VMware vRealize Automation helps IT organizations improve service agility and contain costs by enabling users to manage virtual compute resources through self-service portals and service catalogs. SimpliVity provides the data protection features, which can be used to backup, restore, clone and move virtual machines in a virtualized environment seamlessly. Multiple users can now perform these operations without the need for an administrator through vRealize automation with the integration available through SimpliVity. VMworld Virtual Pass

Don’t worry if you cannot make it to VMworld San Francisco this year, we got you covered. Please join us from the comfort of your desk in our virtual booth, where you can get to watch the demos shown at VMworld. Featured content includes a keynote from our CEO Doron Kempel; several customer success stories; deep dives on our technology; and live chats with hyperconverged infrastructure experts.

Also, this year we are featuring the BMW i8 at our booth. If you’d like to have a chance to win the car, fill out a short survey for your chance to win!
