Business priming and expansion grants from the Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) will help finance 22 jobs immediately across the 16 start-ups, with a further 42 expected across the next 12 months.
The companies are located in Swords, Balbriggan, Howth Junction, Portmarnock, The Ward, Castleknock, Blanchardstown, Skerries, The Naul, Malahide and Lusk, covering most of the Fingal area.
The group comprises of six food and drink start-ups, as well as international corporate tourism, export-oriented craft production, cloud-based business intelligence, engineering, ceramics, chemical production and app-development operations – the latter, in fact, is developing apps for the over-65 group of customers.

Announcing the latest series of grant approvals for the Fingal businesses, Oisín Geoghegan, head of enterprise with Fingal County Council, said the help is “crucial” to local business.
“Financial supports provided by the Fingal Local Enterprise Office can be crucial in helping start-ups to flourish in their first year of operation,” he said.
“This month we have a range of exciting new small businesses that have great potential to create further jobs in Fingal in the coming years.”
Priming grants are for early-stage businesses, while expansion grants are to help those over 18 months old. Each were capped at €80,000 per application.
“In the first two quarters of 2016 we have seen increasingly strong demand for services provided by our LEO,” said Paul Reid, chief executive of Fingal County Council.
“On the back of continued improvement in our economy, the LEO has reported an acceleration in actual job creation and investment among small businesses in Fingal.”
