We’ve never visited the same Charlotte twice.
The locals will tell you: Charlotte is the type of place that’s always growing, changing, and evolving. It keeps you guessing with pop-up coffee shops, outdoor adventures, and rich cultural diversity. You could visit Charlotte ten times over and never have the same experience twice… and we love it. Our latest trip to the Queen City called for a little celebration: The official launch of Shipt grocery delivery with Harris Teeter!!! Starting today, you can get your favorite Harris Teeter groceries delivered right to your door, leaving you more time to explore this awesome city – whether you’re a true local or just stopping by.
Even though we first launched in Charlotte in September 2015, we couldn’t believe how many cool new spots have cropped up since then. We visited some old favorites (like Cowfish), but also discovered some new-to-us spots too. Check out our seven favorite spots from our Harris Teeter launch trip and get going on a Charlotte adventure of your own!
1. 7th St. Public Market
From caramel lattes to savory crepes to local brews, 7th St. Public Market is an all-day, food hall-inspired space that takes you from breakfast to happy hour to dinner. There’s also a curated Got To Be NC Agriculture shop where you can browse delicious pick-me-ups and products sourced from all around the Old North State.
2. Amélie’s French Bakery & Café
Beloved by locals, Amélie’s transports you to Paris with to-die-for pastries and an eclectic atmosphere. We loved the macarons (try the s’mores flavor!) and admittedly got a little mesmerized watching the lead pastry chefs doing their thing in the glass-enclosed kitchen.
3. Heist Brewery
Located in the funky NoDa area, Heist Brewery has something for everyone without sacrificing its unique flair. Order a pint of the “Hive Five,” a dry-hopped, honey blonde ale made with locally-sourced honey, and don’t forget to get some beer cheese for the table (trust us).
4. Midwood Smokehouse
There’s a reason North Carolina is known as one of the barbecue heavyweight states of the south, and Midwood Smokehouse is doing its diligence to spread the good work of smoked meats and home cooked sides. Go for the combo platter piled with burnt ends, smoked sausage, and pork. Just don’t forget the extra napkins.
5. Two Scoops Creamery
There’s nothing like a sweet pick-me-up during a day of exploring, and Two Scoops definitely delivers. But don’t let the name fool you, you don’t have to stop at just two scoops. (We didn’t.) Don’t miss: All the cereal-inspired flavors, featuring decadent ice cream bases mixed with chunks of our favorite cereals from childhood.
6. NoDa Company Store
Part bottle shop, part local hangout, part art gallery, the Company Store offers a relaxed vibe and plenty of space to hang out with a group. They’ve got an inventory of snacks from nearby NC purveyors and a carefully-picked beer selection for optimal sipping and socializing.
7. U.S. National Whitewater Center
Whether you’re an adrenaline-fueled thrill seeker or just love being outdoors, the U.S. National Whitewater Center is a can’t-miss destination in the Charlotte area. Activities range from whitewater rafting to climbing to mountain biking, and there’s ton of opportunities for kids to get their adventure on, too.
