The National Security Education Program (NSEP)David L. Boren Awards provide a unique funding opportunity for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East). Boren Awards focus on geographic areas languages, and fields of study deemed critical toU.S. national security. In exchange for funding, Boren Award recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.

Eligibility
Boren Scholarhips are for undergraduate students. Boren Fellowships are for graduate students.

You are eligible to apply if you are a U.S. citizen at the time of application, and:

Are a matriculated student in an undergraduate program located within the United States. Boren Scholars must remain matriculated in their undergraduate programs through the duration of the scholarship and may not graduate until the scholarship is complete;  or

Either enrolled in or applying to a graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university located within the United States. To receive the award you must provide evidence of admission and enrollment in such a program. Boren Fellows must remain enrolled in their graduate programs for the duration of the fellowship.
