Sanctuary by Christopher Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sanctuary is about a young man and his friends, who survive the zombie apocalypse and go to a city, where they trains as defenders.
OVERALL – I liked Sanctuary (The Dark Days Series Book 2).
Sanctuary was a very good and interesting read. If you want engaging material, then look no further. Sanctuary was well written and engaging.
PLOT – The plot was good.
Each scene lead toward a larger goal, but the ending left some questions unanswered. Sanctuary seems to be set up for a sequel, and didn’t resolve the current plot.
CHARACTERS – They were believable.
The characters were complicated, and deeply human, with their own strengths and weaknesses, but they didn’t develop or grow over the course of the book.
PACING – It was engaging.
I found it hard to put Sanctuary down. It was fast-paced, engaging and suspenseful; a joy to read.
IMMERSION – Superb setting descriptions.
The world-building was superb and each scene was easy to visualize based on the character’s senses and mood. Action scenes were vividly presented and easy to follow.
EDITING – Good design and editing.
The text was well written and engaging. The writing style was consistent and the exposition didn’t slow the plot overly much. There were a few typographical and grammar errors, but not enough to take me out of the moment. Great cover design and page layout.
