IIT JAM Admission Procedure 2017 – Important Point to Remeber!

To make you aware of the detailed procedure for taking admission in IITs and IISc through JAM Score, we are sharing a few important points that you must keep in mind while applying online.

Your earlier offer is canceled automatically if you get UPGRADED-OFFER.

All applicants who got an offer in Round 2 (either Upgraded-Offer or New/Fresh offer) SHOULD exercise one of the THREE Options available when they log into JOAPS.

All applicants who got the Fresh/ New offer in Round 2 SHOULD read the instructions about the options carefully and choose. Once an option is chosen and confirmed, request for change of option will NOT be accepted.

The last date for taking the decision with successful payment of Seat Booking Fee will be declared soon. Applicants with Upgraded-Offer NEED NOT have to pay the Seat Booking Fee.

Round 1 offers will be released on 2nd June, 2017. Applicants please go through the procedure of getting an offer.

Candidates will be notifIied for the offer by SMS/Email/JOAPS.

Confirmation of Acceptance of Offer using “Accept and Freeze”, Rejection of offer using “Reject and Quit” and Withdrawal from accepted offer using “Withdraw” are through One Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered Mobile Number.

Keep your Mobile Phone in the network coverage area and DO NOT Block the two SMS sender IDs, IITMMT and IITMDS.

The seat allotment procedure for the dual degree, PhD and M.Sc. admission generally occurs in three rounds, and the information regarding the offered seat is provided to candidates through website/ e-mail/ SMS.

Cracking the Joint Admission Test is a task in itself, but to acquire IISc Bangalore / IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi PG admission is really a tough job. Hence one must have scored very well in Joint Admission Test, and must have chosen any of the courses available at these Institutes.

Apart from IITs and IISc, candidates can also take admission in 15 other institutes based on IIT JAM 2017’s Scores. Scroll down to know the complete procedure.

How to take admission through IIT JAM 2017 Scores?

Admissions will be given to qualifying candidates of Joint Admission Test (JAM) through online application process, candidates can apply for IIT JAM admission through any of these websites: http://jam.iitd.ac.in/

The application fee for IIT JAM admission is Rs 600/- which is non-refundable and has to be paid online only, through credit/debit card or net banking.

Candidates also need to keep a PDF copy of the following documents handy, while filling the application form for admission:

Mandatory Documents for all:

1. XII or HSC Mark sheet.

2. Qualifying degree: Mark sheets of all semesters/ years.

Document for General Category:

Nationality Certificate: Birth Certificate or Voter ID or First page of Passport or School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing Nationality or Nationality Certificate issued by the authorized government agency.

(Please note that documents such as Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN card, Mark sheets are not considered as Nationality Certificate).

Other Documents:

1. Category Certificate for OBC(NCL), SC, ST Applicants.

2. PwD Certificate for PwD Applicants.

NOTE:

Candidates who have not uploaded a valid category certificate of their respective category (SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ PwD) are getting a “defect” status at their application, must upload their category certificate till the last date declared by the official website. No submissions will be accepted after the last date.

If an applicant fails to submit a valid certificate of their category before given date, will be considered in General category for the admission process. Given that the candidates meet the General category’s cut off.

A valid nationality certificate must also be submitted to the respective institute at the time of joining.

All the information regarding admission procedure is sent to your registered email address and the OTPs (One Time Passwords) are sent to the registered mobile number. For any updates in your current registered mobile number or email address kindly send your request by email with all the appropriate details, by May 10, 2017.

To check the status of your admission application, visit JAM 2017 site regularly.

Only one application form has to be filled irrespective of the number of papers qualified. Also, the application form must be completed before 25th April, 2017. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Hence, candidates must take care of uploading documents and filling in information carefully on time.

A number of seats in the institutions will be reserved for applicants belonging to various categories. Candidates seeking admission under categories like SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD will have to provide the certificate issued by the proficient authority if someone is unable to provide the certificate their admission will not be considered under the respective reserved category. However, candidates can change their category at the time of filling admission application form.

On the account of merit list and preferences given by candidates, first IIT JAM admission list will be declared on June 2, 2017. Also, the application form will only be considered for the program opted by the candidate at the time of filling admission form.

Once a candidate is offered a seat, he/ she can choose from the following actions:

Accept and freeze: candidate who wish to keep the seat offered to him/ her and do not wish to update any further.

Accept with upgrade: choosing this action will reserve the seat and will also enable candidate to upgrade the seat in further rounds.

Reject with quit: choosing this option will reject the offered seat and the candidate will not be considered for the admission procedure in further rounds.

After selecting Accept and freeze or Accept and upgrade i.e. the options that reserve the seat, the candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 10000/- (General /OBC-NCL) or Rs 5000/- (SC/ST/PwD category Applicants) to reserve the respective seat. And if one chooses to Reject and Quit an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number to confirm the action.

On June 20, 2017 the second admission list will be declared for the seats left vacant after the first round. Applicants who receive the seat from their higher preference list don’t need to pay again to reserve the seat. And if someone cancels the seat during second round, can choose to withdraw and the fee will be refunded to their account after deducting Rs 1000/- processing fee.

If there’s still any seats remaining vacant they will be allotted to the candidates though third admission list by July 03, 2017. This will be the final list, after this list the admission process will stop for the 2017-2018 session.

Also, all the documents that prove the eligibility must be submitted to the respective institute on or before September 30, 2017.

Procedure for Admissions in Other Institutes!

The JAM 2017 admissions to Other 15 Institutes will be done by seat allotment counseling that will be started soon. As soon as, we’ll receive any official updates regarding the same, we’ll notify you through the blog updates. Stay Tuned!

Candidates with good marks in JAM 2017 can apply for the seat allotment process, which is to be done in two rounds. Candidates can apply for the counseling on the official sites of respective colleges.

The first round seat allotment will be started in June 2017.

Candidates not satisfied with seat allotment or failed to appear in first round counseling can apply in the second round. The seat allotment of second round of allotment will start from the last week of June 2017, this is the last round of seat allotment.

Eligibility criteria: The applicants must be graduate with science subjects and should have a CGPA of 6.5 (for general) and 6.0 (for OB/OC) and 5.5 (for SC/ST or PwD)

Academic Programmes For IITs and IISc:

Only the candidates who qualify the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. and fulfill the Eligibility Requirements(ER) and minimum Educational Qualification (EQ) criteria are eligible to apply for the IIT JAM admission procedure. Candidates can apply for one or more academic programs based on the test paper cleared by them.

(ii). Four-year Dual Degree Programme in M.Sc.(Physics)-M.Tech.(Materials Science) with specialization in Nano-Science and Technology

(iii). M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree Programmes in:

Environmental Science and Engineering, Operations Research, the degrees will be given together after the successful completion of both the Programmes.
