Melbourne has been rated a $1.70 chance with TAB to beat the Western Bulldogs ($2.15) in their first match as reigning premier when the pre-season competition begins next month.
“The Demons have been training for five weeks longer than the Bulldogs, who punters think might suffer from a premiership hangover in this pre-season series,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.
“In other matches, Essendon and Collingwood are $1.90 each with both teams eager to impress after disappointing 2016 campaigns while Geelong ($1.55) is heavily favoured to beat a new-look Hawthorn ($2.45) side.”
Meanwhile, Greater Western Sydney remain $5.00 favourites to claim the 2017 Premiership, ahead of the Bulldogs ($6.00) and Sydney ($7.50).
