Debutant Jordan Thompson will have the honour of leading the Australian team into battle in the opening singles match of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie against Czech Republic when he takes on world No.54 Jiri Vesely tomorrow morning on hardcourt at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.
In the second singles rubber, Australia’s No.1 player Nick Kyrgios will then meet world No.157 Jan Satral as the hosts aim to secure an opening day lead.
On Saturday, big-hitting Sam Groth and Australian Open men’s doubles champion John Peers will meet Davis Cup newcomer Zdenek Kolar and wily veteran Radek Stepanek in the doubles.
The reverse singles will be played on Sunday, with Kyrgios set to play Vesely followed by Thompson up against Satral.
